Everything about the introduction of Leon in this movie was amazing. Barely spoke, sly killer not using loud guns, let fear get the better of his opponents. Then when he did speak: "Dial this number ... Yes ... Do you understand? So say ... Good" (backs into shadows) So amazing. This scene never gets old.

@paristo
@paristo 7 ай бұрын
Yeah. That cinematic take when he comes from the shadows, and vanish in the shadows made the movie industry for 20 years to try replicate that cool factor. Seeing it again after so many years, I never noticed how Leon corrects his grip of the knife at one point, and then how he looks at the phone after the call. It is partially comical that both stare the hooker when She goes by... You can forget that part easily.

For as silly as this movie can be, some of the acting is genuinely amazing. Seriously, the guy that plays Fatman does such a fantastic job with portraying "panicked to the point of almost but not quite being unable to think straight". The way he clearly tries to get the conversation and confrontation over with as fast as he can at the end, how he goes to being super meek when Leon reveals himself, all really good acting, especially for a tiny bit comedic part.

Of a certain age, you will understand how great a film this is. It derives from La Femme Nakita, but never knowingly. I remember seeing this at the cinema originally. Unbelievable. Gary Oldman was almost other-worldly. Reno....it goes without saying. Coolest cat out there. Danny Aiello. Nuff said. Genius film and viewpoint never improved.... even by Besson himself who has tried several times. Top Ten Films of any good taste and film knowledge as far as I am concerned.

So many cool parts in this sequence, but what always stuck with me was at the end when Leon's boss tells him to make the fat guy understands and he simply asks him if he understands. He could've beaten him up or cut off a body part, but he simply asked if he understood. Leon is a lot of things, but he's not a sadist.

If you love this character, he first appear in "Nikita" (from Luc Besson as well) He's named "Victor, le nettoyeur" (" the cleaner " in french) His scene is legendary.

The premise of the movie was lame but the action was top notch. Jean Reno as Leon was a stone cold bad ass, and Gary Oldman showed us what crazy looks like up close and personal.

Are they using the music from 007 Golden Eye in this scene? Also doesn't this scene and some of the other stuff remind you of 90's Anime?
