The mirror does recommend brushing on.
@IllusionSector3 жыл бұрын
Brushed results are even more hideous. Also, the volatility to handling renders both Molotow and Mirror (which evidently work the same way) unusable for such intents and purposes. This is a far cry from the godsend final solution that Mirror proclaims to be on the website's product page.

Yeah I attempted to finely wet sand a fibrous material and it just made the finish scratchy... Needs a glassy smooth material as a base to get the best mirror
@robertyanez46713 жыл бұрын
Putting on a few more thick coats helped but not to the extent they proclaim this product is capable of... The designer of the product actually recommends to brush out as thin as possible that very little goes a long way... I can verify that myself with the mirror coat but it looses it's mirror like sheen/reflectivity the thinner you layer it... Which you would expect

Thanks Cloakfiend. Based on your previous video I made a model and learnt about and used Alclad II Chrome. I got the misting too on several tries I think it was putting the airbrush too close and maybe too much of the carrier for the metal got on and made it misty. My mirror finish is good from 30cm away, looking close there's tiny misted spots.

It’s not that Molotow takes a long time to dry, it’s that it takes a long time to cure. Dry and cure are two very different things. You can easily damage Molotow after it’s dry because it hasn’t fully cured. Once it’s cured it’s much sturdier and able to resist damage.

Gotta wait for molotow to cure to point where u can’t touch it and it won’t smudge, honestly at that point it’s extremely durable before putting klear on , but takes days if not an entire week. Molotow is tricky to spray I use refill bottles, it’s thinner than marker. Since it’s thick and thinning takes away from mirror of it even in very small amounts. You could do an entire helmet 3 times over with the refill bottle non thinned, it’s actually easier to do large areas w it since you aren’t wasting any spray out over spray

@@kjfuerst2838 i found it hazed randomly like mirror. Perhaps i should have heated it up a bit?
@patrickho52004 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this comparison! My experience with Molotow is the same as mentioned below with Alclad 2 Klear Kote (and Future Floor Polish). Molotow will dull almost immediately when applying a clear coat. Its not horrible, but not the same reflectivity as without clear. Also Molotow tended to be easy to finger print and dull when handled without clear, even after decent cure time. I heard that allowing Molotow to cure for as long as a week before clear coating would help to maintain its luster, but I have yet to try that. I was curious if you found Mirror to be more durable than Molotow used as is? Or are they the same? Some of the other options you tested aren't too bad for what they are, I'll have to give them a try as well. Thanks again!

@@Cloakfiend It will be great if you can try it and make a new video to show the effects. Since I started airbrushing back in the 80's, I have seen everybody, 100%, pushing Iwata & Paasche. Truth is, you're just paying for the name. My cheap $24 Master airbrush is the same exact thing. I've been using it for years & never had a problem. As long as you keep it clean & don't let the paint dry in it, you won't have any problems. To hell with paying over $100 just for a stupid name.
