In clock repair or clock making it is important to know how to properly measure your clock hands so that you get the correct clock movement for your clock repair or if you are building a new clock.
The way you measure clock hands is really only with the minute hand. The hour hand is not used in measuring the length of your clock hands.
So you can disregard the hour hands. The minute hands are measured from the mounting hole to the tip. From the mounting hole to the tip. When you get into high torque clock hands its still from the mounting hole to the tip.
You don't include the tail. The portion behind the mounting hole. If your doing a clock repair remember your old clock hands probably will not work. The reason is there is no cross reference from one manufacturer to another manufacturer.
Therefore, there are no standards. So when you get a mini quartz motor and the hands are 5 inches or less were going to give you a Free set of hands. So you don't even have to worry about that.
When you order a mini quartz motor from us you get the hardware and you will be ask to select a pair of hands for your clock repair or the clock your building.
With the high torque motors you go to the bottom of the high torque motor webpage;

There is a icon where you can select the hands you want for your high torque motor. They are priced individually depending on the length of the minute hand you need.
But for the mini quartz movements we provide you free hands. For the high torque we have a great selection for you to choose from and they are priced accordingly.
In summary the way you measure a minute hand is from the mounting hole to the tip. From the mounting hole to the tip. You go with a regular mini quartz motor if your minute hand is 5 inches or less.
