Them being listed as "Friends" is even more asinine when in the backstory, Laura and Ann bullied Jennifer mercilessly in the orphanage.. It's also why they nominate Jennifer to check things out when things get spooky... they're used to her being forced into doing things no one else wanted to do Only Lotte was actually Jennifer's friend (Which adds to the tragedy that Lotte is the only one of the three you can't save)

Btw, I've learned that if you SPOILER ALERT 1. Window scene. Watch Anne die when she's thrown out the window 2. Go to the office (where Anne was thrown out) and grab her lantern 3. Go to the library (there should be maternity magazines on the floor) 4. Have you noticed that the rooms where the Scissor Man appears, you can't light up the place? If it's not a coincidence, then there's probably a way to deduct the rooms where the Scissor Man have a chance to strike. I'm probably wrong but I can't help thinking about this possibility.

Oh hey Clock Tower, nice to see it make an appearance on this channel too! Actually for the chase theme's name, the game files just call it "BOBBY A/B/C" (for the Windows 95 and PS1 versions), and its name on the 20th anniversary soundtrack is just "Murderer". "Don't cry, Jennifer" is a fan-given title. As for the other games, yeah, Ghost Head (the 2nd PS1-only title that gained a "2" in its name for the US version for some reason) has some serious pacing, backtracking, too-cryptic-hints and confusing scenario issues starting with the 2nd level (that might or might not be linked to the fact that the game was a bit rushed due to budget constraints). The fact that the english changed/fucked up/removed some details and made the overall story even more confusing than it already was. Also one of the endings is pure evil. I came to like it after playing it for years but its decent at best. Sunsoft/Capcom's Clock Tower 3 on the other hand is a complete pile of garbage, I never got so angry at a game after playing it for barely 10 minutes. Camera is awful, controls suck, cutscenes are overacted as hell and get really grating, music is either generic or bad, the protagonist is an unlikeable idiot, the plot makes even less sense that Ghost Head's US translation's -- and magical girls? Really? I havent' played Haunting Ground and am still a bit hesitant to count it as part of the franchise or not. Seems better than 3 from what I saw though. If you get around playing Ghost Head/The Struggle Within or 3, prepare for a lot, and I mean a LOT of frustration...

Holy shit I remembered that game back from when I was a kid, there was a German version of it though if I remember correctly, somewhere around the late 90ies or so, when we got our hands on it for the Ps1 (though after doing some research now, it appears that there's a bunch of fan-made translations in a sort of homebrew kinda way for all kinds of languages). Man back then I sure as heck was scared. and we couldn't for the love of god beat this game. somehow we just never managed to get through to the end proper. Probably we just sucked at it back then :D

Similar to the original first Super Mario Brothers and the Legend of Zelda; Resident Evil 4, Haunting Ground, and Clock Tower 3 where simultaneously developed. The dev teams shared and compared ideas and borrowed or transferred game elements from all three games to create unique experiences. Explains why RE4 is more action based, Haunting Ground has puzzles and a pet, and Clock Tower 3 is magical girl.

I mean it is very heavily influenced by both Phenomena (the designs of the protagonist (which, well, considering they even have the same name (and even a similar backstory in that in the orphanage she got bullied a lot) it's almost a copy + paste minus the telepathy thing) and the villain plus the plotline of the killer being protected by his mother in order to keep running amok) and Suspiria (the more supernatural elements, the self-destructing mansion, plus the Ann crashing through the ceiling window scene), with a dash of Opera in the S-Ending with the whole "crows attack the killer because they killed one of their flock" thing, plus the Goblin-ish sounding music.

Why are this game's graphics so good? I mean ya there are some beautiful SNES games but this just steam rolls them. Anyone who wants to argue that point I shall direct you to super Metroid, what I'd consider it's closest contender in graphical quality, there's no competition, this game looks much better

Strangely I find no outstanding qualities that really suggest why. It's not made by some extreme studio known for high fidelity graphics, it wasn't a late release. Uh, it being point and click allows for some tricks to have detailed designs and animations without needing to worry about a moving camera of sprites I guess? It's just must have been a real passion project
