We make our way to Glemsford near Sudbury, Suffolk in the blistering summer heatwave of August 2022 when it was 35 degrees Celsius. We get held up in traffic due to wild fires and arrive to a large grass pitch with electric hook-up at Clockhouse Farm Caravan Park. We enjoy a relaxing stay and have a brief look at the pretty village of Glemsford.

First off good to see Sophie looking so well that eases the mind. Glemsford looks like a wonderful old English village have to admit I haven't been there yet, but its now on my to go list. I will wait for the cooler weather do not tolerate this heat very well. Hard to believe I lived-in Saudi Arabia for nearly 10 years. Enjoy your holiday.

The area has lots of history and it’s essential to visit Lavenham, Kersey, Clare and Long Melford. All a short distance away. This campsite is basic but very nice for a quiet spot surrounded in places to explore 😃 Trev

Looks a lovely quiet site. Just the sort of place I like. Pleased the dogs finally understood what the cool mats are for lol. I Iove the sunshine, but in Bedfordshire there has been no rain for weeks. We desperately need some. Even the trees are dropping leaves through lack of water.

Yes it’s so very dry in Suffolk too. We may get some rain overnight but last time the forecast said thunderstorms we got nothing. Everywhere has dead grass and lawns 🙂 Trev

That’s a lovely quiet site and another pretty Suffolk village. I can’t believe just how dry the south is (still green up here 🤭). Well done to Oscar & Sophie for wearing cool jackets and using the mats (eventually), Hamish had both for years, but does a fine statue impression in the jacket and point blank refuses to lie on his cool mat for more than a couple of minutes - comes in handy to stand on whilst doing the ironing though 🤣

Wildfires stink! Seems there is an outbreak of them every summer over here. Don't recall it being such an issue before. Looks like pretty nice place. Wow those look like some pretty big plums. Need to make some jam with those. Looks like a nice bit of shopping and exploring nearby too. Great sunset!

We have a couple of “old school” sites where you can hide away, sometimes it’s nice to forget KZbin and just remember simple camping as it was when we started. Although £22 is fairly steep for a “nothing” site. 👍

The cool vests worked quite well. It’s always difficult to get the right size though. I think they helped keep the dogs cool. Glemsford has some very pretty old houses and buildings 😃 Trev

There’s something nice about the sites which haven’t changed over the years, there’s quite a few which are cash only. I noticed the grass looked very dry, it surprised me as a couple of weeks back I was at Adastral Park with work and couldn’t believe how dry it had been in the area (and how warm it was!) Some nice houses, looks like the area is full of history. Nice to see Sophie without the lampshade, hope she’s doing ok, bless her. All the best, David & Rachel 👍
