Any chance you know where to locate the rear drains on a 2005 Golf TDI Hatchback? We cleared the front two but can't access the others. If I knew where they drained out I would try clearing from the bottom up. Water is continuously leaking into my spare tire area. Thank you!

Thanks for this! I want to clean the leaf material from that area under my windshield, but after removing the front clips, I can only bend the plastic grill/cowl up a bit - I can't see how to remove it cleanly (from around the wipers as well). What's the usual name of that area/part/drain-hole, so I can search for the right remove/replace procedure?

Vw warrantied the water damage that was caused on mine from that. Tell them you are worried about mold in the carpet and insulation. Their fix for the sunroof drain tubes is to snip off the factory crimp at the bottom to let it drain.

Next VW says: we leave USA market.. Warranty claiming has driving up sticker shock extra $10,000 on every car knowing the customers don't even open the owners manual recommending to park away from damage. They should make a club like Ferrari of who wins the chance to buy one of their be sportwagens.. they pledge not to abuse the car, getting invited to rallies and meets to even open her up on the track to have fun and give it the Italian style tune up, making fossil fuel cars great again 2024.

I have an Tiguan with pano sunroof. I know I’m leaking in the back (driver side) along the drink window and down into the trunk. Is there a hole from the top to get into? With the pan sunroof open you came access it unless you go under, and when I go under I get nothing out really

Ohhhh wow. I have a 2009 Jetta. Maybe it’s the same?I was told the front sunroof drain is in the wheel-well behind the front tire. (Finally found out the inner tube was disconnected inside driver’s side door frame. Was fixed for a couple years and now I have a leak again So I’ll try this…

Why not replace the hoses and make them longer ? So the water goes in from the roof and comes out under the car.

my sunroof does not completely open it just opens up in the back so i can get to the front drain holes on top of the roof but i will check the other places first

BMWs are thd worse for sunroof drain blockages there is a nozzle on the end of the drain tube which has an adapter fixed to it to stop insects getting in, this gets blocked up and water soaks the car footwells.

I have standing water in my spare tire wheel well and the inside of my windows and really the whole car is soaked... VERY frustrating

Could also blow out the drainage hole with an air gun from the roof itself, this not localized to vw rather all cars with sunroofs

This is true, but sometimes if the clog is bad enough it'll blow the hose out of it's place inside the A-pillar and it's annoying to deal with if that happens (or in the ceiling).

fell victim to this too. was a darn hard thing to figure out a few years ago. who designs this, really stupid drains system. the water in the carpet isn't from the area where the leafs are its actually because the water backs up that tube and flows down the a or b pillar from the top. either way really stupid. love the sunroof tho just need more tlc
