Great research. Thank you. There's a yellow spring you can swap the red one with giving you more spring tension.

NP! I've come across that before but have never bought one myself to see how much of a difference it makes. For what I do the stock spring does the trick.

@@MarcelsWorkshop did you ever learn anything on the yellow spring? I can find the green but not the yellow, if you have any advice on the springs it would be much appreciated. Also what is the difference in the holes that you showed in the first part of the video where the spring goes in??
@MarcelsWorkshop
@MarcelsWorkshop 3 жыл бұрын
@@stinkyvonfishstix4196 Nah I've never looked into the springs, sorry. The 3 holes set different tension levels on the spring, 1 being low 3 being high. The more tension, the higher the rpm it takes for the torque converter to open up and switch into "high gear". So if your doing a lot of climbing and stuff you probably want to stay in "low gear" longer for maximum power, therefore want more tension. But if it's on like a go kart just doing paved tracks you would probably want less tension to ensure it can quickly and easily shift into "high gear" for maximum speed. Too much tension may result in it never being able to build enough rpm to fully open, so would be like having a 5 speed vehicle that can never get past 4th gear.

I guess a clone TC would wear out faster than the real deal but otherwise I don't think it's too much of a difference. Also the spare parts would be probably cheaper for a clone TC as well so..

i've used both types, the comet has a better casting and better bearings than the clones and the comet also seems to resist dirt and mud better. depends what it's used for, if i was building something just to thrash around on i'd go with the cheaper clone but if i was building something i planned to drive across the country i'd go with the comet.

The chinese ones are by far better for the money. I bought the chinese one for around 80 USD and have been using nonstop for 2 years. The trick is to do regualr maintenance on them. The only issue were the bearings that lasted close to one year but some simple high end bearings for about 8 bucks each did the trick

heres the problem with the china mades vs comets, you can buy 4+ complete china made setups for what one comet costs. I have had pretty good luck with the china mades, same for the belts. I just bought one true comet belt and for the same exact price i got 6 china belts. we'll see if the extra money for the comet pays off, i am skeptical. I like to buy American/from American companies when I can but it has to make fiscal sense too.

Get a Juganaught CVT clutch from Go Power Sports. They have 3/4" and 1". It's like riding in the 21st century, they're built really well made part, smooth acceleration, strong engagement, and your engine will love the RPM change.I've been running my MTB, using a Predator 212 with the Jugernought for 2 seasons now and I love it. It's night and day difference, and I'm a retired tool& die maker, and machinist with 45 years experience, and I know quality when I see it. You won't regret it.

Hmm sounds intriguing, but on the site it says "This driver is recommended to be used with higher RPM engines, Stage 2 or higher. On a stock motor running at 3600 RPM you will NOT see any difference in performance and it may effect top end MPH" The most I ever go on these engines is stage 1, so probably not a good investment for me personally. :P

@@MarcelsWorkshop In my opinion the Juggernaut turns the 30 series into a glorified jackshaft. There's gear reduction after the belt shift. It never gets to 1:1. The gearing does work very well for those who want to turn high RPM. I'll never get one. I get very good performance with the stock driver and my gearing choice.

You have to do the same thing to the comet if you want higher RPM belt shifts. The Comet comes with the green spring which has the lightest tension. The China CVT's come with the heavier red spring which works better than the green spring.

How is that possible? Then I saw where it was actually reading KPH. Now THAT makes sense. 47 to 48 MPH is very respectable for the upgrades done. I guess I'll have to go Chinese made to start with then hope I have enough money to invest in the Comet by the time the Knock-Off implodes.

@@xani123123 Thanks! A centrifugal clutch is like locking your car in 5th gear and never changing it, whereas a torque converter is like an automatic transmission and changes gears depending on the situation.
