That piece is the emulsion tube of the carb. It mixes the fuel and air and comes with the new jet because it has enlarged hole sizes to work well with the larger jet. Tip: Use an in-line fuel filter.

I've had good luck with using *Sta-Bil Marine* fuel treatment. I have several carbureted engines that sit for long periods of time and have yet to have any issues with any of them as long as that fuel treatment is in the fuel left in the bowls. What I would recommend for that centrifugal clutch is to take it apart and cut the weight retainer spring down a bit. maybe 3-4 turns at a time, and after you cut it you can just bend the end up a bit to re-form the hook. What this will do it make it engage at a higher RPM, thus reducing the heat generated from just idleing. It will also engage higher in the torque curve which means you get more power at initial engagement. It's a bit of an art tuning the clutch right with the gearing, though.

Before you change the carb, try cleaning the primary jet. It's held in place by the idle speed adjustment screw. Once you take that screw out, use a flat screwdriver to gently pry the jet holder out of the top of the carb. Take a single strand of bike cable and poke it through the hole in the brass jet, don't force it. Then, with the bowl off, blow everything out. Use carb cleaner with a spray nozzle to spray into the small hole at the bottom of the jet holder hole to make sure it comes out below by the main jet.
@nickkluger978 жыл бұрын

The emulsion tube and the jet are paired up. The emulsion tube just pushes down from the throat of the carb and drops out after the jet is out. Just make sure you don't screw up the two tiny o-rings. Replace them if damaged. Put a drop of oil on the O-rings when reinstalling. Some have plastic emulsion tubes that get brittle, so be gentle.

It is an emulsion tube to froth the liquid fuel. The “froth” created by emulsion tubes improves fuel atomization. In the GL1000, both the main and secondary main fuel jets employ emulsion tubes. Keep in mind that when a bike sits unused for any length of time, these emulsion tubes can get plugged with residues. This will seriously disrupt the air-fuel mixture. Each carb may be affected differently, so the symptoms can be a bit contradictory and elusive. Generally, the lack of air will cause an over-rich condition on the affected carb(s). Depending on which holes are plugged, you can sometimes get weird, rpm-dependent problems.

It's Called a "Emulsion Tube"- The fuel is metered through the main jet while the air is controlled through what is generally called the 'air correction jet'. Somewhere in between, the fuel and air are intermixed to form an "Emulsion" - a fine dispersant of the air inside the fuel.

You guys need to find a station selling ethanol free fuel, they typically cater to boaters so I'd expect there is one somewhere near the launch ramp. As an alternative, Lowe's sells TruFuel in gallon cans. It's not cheap but it's ethanol free and has stabilizer already added. It'd save you the hassle of messing with carbs after something has sat for awhile. John's bike needs a smaller rear sprocket to go with the torque converter.

You have to remove any gas from the carb before it sits for a couple weeks or longer. That way the gas wont clog the carb when slowly turning bad. Also the Ethanol in the gasoline will catch water from the air and cause corrosion inside the carb. So just simply drain your carbs before the bike sits and "it`ll be fine". :)

emulsion tube is what that is. The fuel is controlled by the jet and the air is controlled buy the emulsion tube. The tube will also be calibrated by the size of holes in it. That helps with the mixture of fuel and air so you will have a nice atomized fuel air mixture. If the holes are incorrect in size then the engine runs like doggy poopy Except for wide open trottle.
