Great video! I'm eagerly awaiting to get my deluge, website says they are having a 3 week break from selling Quick question though, I noticed that when you are recording using the input microphone and you had the metronome, that it actually was faintly recording that also. Is there a way for it to not record or do you just have to have the count in to get your timing right?
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Жыл бұрын
Hope that 3 weeks goes by quickly for you man. On the bright side there'll be some new features anounced in that time! As for the metronome - You can choose to have a count in or not, so that's optional. Having it continue to play while recording though is something I wouldn't recommend. It does (ever so faintly) pick it up. I would probably recomend using headphones while recording if you're going to do it that way. An alternative is to make your own metronome using a high hat or something that won't cut through the mix, cause the metronome is very loud haha

@@RSKT_music Yes the holy grail is to not touch the Deli. but just use the foot switch to instigate recording (and stopping) live guitar/ bass looping, and also overdubbing, by my ickle brain can't work it out - a short video would be fab. Useful info for Deluge users is any midi device/ keyboard that sends a midi note can be used to control the Deli looping commands (under settings\command\[then learn the command]). I've had the deluge since July 2017 and thought I knew it all pretty well...but there lots of nuggets of information in your videos I've picked up, great work, thanks!
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Жыл бұрын
@@simonmorton3746 ah that's awesome to hear man. I'll definitely add a video to my list that talks about looping workflows, and I'll release it with The Deluge Workflow Guide that I'm planning to make once this series is finished. Cheers for the ideas! :) One thing that I might also add is that even though you can't 'technically' make audio tracks a fixed length before recording, there is actually a way to do it. Just record a blank audio clip into the arranger view (however many bars you want), then copy that clip back into song view by holding down on the clip and pressing 'song.' Then, if you follow along with the overdubbing steps in this video, you basically have created some blank, fixed length, tracks to work with. It's super useful to do it this way, as it means you can hit record and then have time to jump back to playing your instrument. But then you don't have to worry about stopping the clip at all (which can be tricky in some cases, depending on what you're playing). All of this will be covered in a future video, but I thought I'd mention it now as it might prove useful to you :)
@providief

can you change the tempo of the overall track (if it's just audio loops) without it time-stretching? as in the slower it gets the lower the pitch. i get if the internal synth is playing they must go out of tune but i'm just wondering
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I'm not too sure to be honest with you. I think you'd have to experiment with it a bit. The only way I can think of getting around such a thing would be to resample each audio track, then import them to something like a kit track and turn off time stretching...but even that might not work. Sorry I'm not much more helpful, wish I had an answer for you.

Is there a way to preset the length of a sequence you plan to record into so it automatically starts to loop back on itself without having to hit the record button to stop recording? Similar to how the novation circuit works (when you get to the end of the alloted space it starts over). I love that there's no limit on how long you can record, but on the other hand it would be nice to be able to preset a determined length for a sequence you want to record into
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music 11 ай бұрын
Sure! The thing to keep in mind is if you hit record them play, it's going to keep recording until you hit record again. If you hit play and then record, it will loop back to the start after the length you have set. If you want to do this with audio clips (as in having a fixed length audio clip for a looper track or something), make an audio clip in the arranger view for however long you want, then copy the clip into song view. Super helpful when making loops live :)

Hmm, that's a good question and I've not tried myself. I guess one thing I'd try is to make sure the release of the track is up all the way, but to be honest I'm not even sure if that would work. I get your hands might be too full for this, but my only other thought is to map the volume of the track to an external midi controller and quick do it that way. Lol, maybe pop in on the floor and use your toes haha. Sorry I'm not much more help.

You'll need to hit record and switch the colour of the audio track by pressing the section button (it should switch between red and purple). I'm not with my Deluge rn, so I can't remember which ones which, but a quick experiment should get you there. Basically though, you can choose if you want it to overdub or stop playback :)

this is blowing me away, it shows waveforms wtff!!!!! anyway, would you say deluge is good for a writing tool vs something like rc-505? i make soft rock music, and my songs have different parts. i work in IT and my screen is killing my productivity. i want to be able to hit record, record my guitar, go back and loop piano, synths, bring those parts in and out. repeat that for other song sections, and then arrange. is that possible? would you say the deluge or akai force is more like that? the nice thing about deluge is the lack of a screen which i find extremely enticing.
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Жыл бұрын
The Deluge would be perfect for what you are trying to do! It's worth noting, however, that the Deluge has limited inputs, so you may wany to consider a small external mixer to plug all of your gear into, and then run that into the Deluge. Otherwise, you might just have to plug things in as you need them. I've heard mixed feels about the Akai Force, you either love it or hate it (but then again, some say that about the Deluge too). The rc-505 looks fantastic and I think it's considered one of the best loopers for a reason. That said, the Deluge is going to give you so much more with synth engines, live effects (including sidechain), and a built in drum sequencer. Ultimately, it's going to be up to you. Of course I'm going to recommend the Deluge, I just love it so much. To top it all of, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better arranger on any other piece of gear right now.

hello mr RSKT, is there anyway humanly possible that I could bother you for ten minutes of your time on a phone call or facetime in regards to sycning audio files [actual stems from DAW] I've been playing live (dj'ing with a few deluges and additional synths) I can't figure out to save my life what I need to do to sync stems to the internal clock
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music 8 ай бұрын
Hey there! So, I haven't really experimented with loading stems on the Deluge, so I don't know how much I'd be able to help. However, I'll give it a go: One thing I noticed is years ago Red Means Recording did a lo-fi live set with the Deluge, and I noticed he loaded all of his stems onto a kit track instead of loading them in as Audio Tracks. In another video he discussed a slight difference between the clock in Ableton and the clock on the Deluge. So while he didn't explicitly explain it, I get the feeling that he takes a song at (let's say) 120bpm > exports the stems from Ableton > loads each stem onto its own kit track > and then sets the sample mode to "stretch" > keeps the Deluge tempo at 120bpm. In theory, there shouldn't be any noticeable time stretching artifacts, and it should negate any tempo discrepancies when playing back your stems. At the end of the day, loading your stems in as kit tracks adds some extra benefits, as you can put all of your drums into a single track that way, and have access to LFO's and other things. Either way, I hope this helps in some way. Let me know how you go with it :)

You know a lot but you teach and speak very fast to the people from countries not native in english, is very difficult to understand all and they don´t know so much like you. Deluge is expensive and is not so easy to operate it, would be nice you think about that too, please ok, thank you.
@RSKT_music
@RSKT_music Жыл бұрын
Hi - I'm sorry if my speaking comes across too fast. I try my best to stay at a reasonable pace when walking through these videos, otherwise they would go on too long. When I upload the videos, I select that the language of them is in English. This helps KZbin decide who to recommend the video to and to provide automatically generated subtitles. You could try selecting the settings for the video and changing the playback speed if you need it to be slower. I do agree with something you said though. The Deluge IS expensive, and it now costs more than double what I paid for it a couple of years ago. That said, you'd be hard pressed to find another machine that packs as many features into it. The OP1-Field costs more than a Deluge and still can't do half of what the Deluge can. So I'd say it's worth it. I don't think it's that difficult to operate it though. It's no different to learning how to use Ableton. That said, I see a lot of people complaining about the learning curve. So that's why I made this video series, to help people get up and running quickly. Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion. I'm sorry if my videos are not up to your standard. There are other channels on KZbin that focus on the Deluge that may be more up your alley. At the end of the day, I made this series for free and to help people. I hope you were able to at least get something out of it.
