With its input options you can use this to record full HD security cameras too. Pair it with an external 8 TB HDD then come back to check on it periodically to see the remaining storage. I wonder how long it takes to finalize a saved recording on Memory Card, USB Flash Drive, mechanical HDD? Those TeraByte sized files at full HD or 4k might be of concern if you're looking to make lots of back-to-back recordings. This is a super cool way to record all kinds of things. I wonder if it can work with USB hubs to expand the storage / source options? For playback as a portable media player this would be most handy on a road or camping trip.

Great explanation! Would a HDMI splitter adaptor work on this? I mean the source going to the HDMI adaptor and then out to this device and a t.v. Would both t.v and this show what's coming from the source i.e a video camcorder?

If you see a recurring 'Oops Something has gone wrong' message on the ViewPro, the solution is to press the 'OK' button on the device for 10 seconds. I spent hours trying to fix this, but the above works.

Looking at the info the bitrate for encoding is 18Mbps ... that's a LITTLE on the low side, not Horrible but a bit low. I would have liked to have seen 30Mbps. This seems like a decent poormans Atomos Ninja V for someone who only shoots 1080p on a DSLR and who needs to record more than 30 minutes (the limit on many DSLRs).

They make a 4K version but you have to use your own screen/monitor.
