How long does it take to get from charlevoix to the island?? My husband almost put a application in at Irish boat shop. We're considering getting a boat. How big do you recommend for lake michigan?? We have a place on the west side of the island. Thanks for the nice ride 👍

Hello, Suzy, and thank you! On this day of reasonably good sailing, the passage was about five or six hours. Your next question is difficult to answer as it depends on a number of factors such as experience, budget, desired features, personal preference, etc. Generally, the longer the waterline, the faster the boat and the heavier the boat, the easier the motion but there is far more to consider. For safety, much also depends on how you intend to sail your boat. A small, light boat is perfectly safe to sail on Lake Michigan if properly handled in carefully chosen conditions while the largest of vessels have succumbed to disaster in the same waters. I’m sorry I can make no recommendation but best wishes in finding a boat best for you.
