Close Pass +Nudge Reported! Watch Police Response!

I reported this driver to the police for close passing. Watch the video to see Police response. Driver says that cyclist merged into his lane, and cyclist says he's been closed passed and almost knocked off his bike, but who's right?

Silvios bus lane ended at the bus stop, but he progresses and cuts up the traffic in what WAS lane 2 - and let's ask, chances of Silvio carrying xouta shoulde check and hand signal are very low. I will concede the drivers lane change was late. But the lane he moved into was empty. Silvio should have anticipated the lane finish early, and moved to the other lane. Google map the bridge.

@@davetkd666 The bus lane merges into the lane, where the driver changes into. At a merging point, what do you do? Merge one by one, or overtake the one in front of you? Would you do the same, if it was a bus merging here? Please, let yourself time to reply. And even if Silvio did everything wrong possible in the world, does that grant the driver the right to close pass him and endanger his life? Again, take your time to reply.

I can't find your comment to reply to on here (the one emailed to me) It is not a merge. There is a sign telling you the bus lane ends. A bus would have priority (see highway code) if moving off from the stop and traffic would be obliged to give way. Silvio is not driving a bus. What would I do? Anticipate the laned end, find a gap, signal and move to the continuing lane taking up a strong prime and keeping right. If no gap, I'd stop at the end of the lane and wait for a gap. But then you previously honted you drive a merc so all this must be alien to you.

Silvios bus lane ends, the blue sign on the left tells you this. Silvio exits the bus lane dangerously into the path of the car.

@@TheMirrorGuy Nope. his lane didn't end. Bus lane regulation ended. His lane merges with the left normal traffic lane to form a new lane. Silvio did not cross any give way lines or any lane dividers. "end of bus lane" sign means the regulations for bus lane ends there. the lane continues as normal traffic lane.

Regardless of who entered the lane first this move the close passing regulation as he came from behind Silvio. He still had to give Silvio 1.5 meters as he passed Silvio or hold back.

Your little friend the mirror guy states that the bus lane ended and it's not a merge, Given that you are a bus driver, do you have any say about it? what does the "end of bus lane" sign mean? Does it mean the bus lane regulation ended and it turns into a normal traffic lane? OR does it mean the physical lane ended and stopped there so when YOU drive your bus, you need to stop there and give way despite the lane being an open end? Do you think that this is a merge where the solid line stops?

@@roadbiker8333Needs more road markings if i am honest, it needs either give way lines on the end of the bus lane or it needs merge arrows in the traffic lane. As for the bus lane ends sign, just means it’s the end of bus lane. Doesn’t tell you anything else. We don’t have any junctions like this where i drive buses i would imagine it being an accident blackspot, personally this is easily avoided in a bus due to having mirrors you would see it unfolding. I am not blaming Silvio at all so don’t do your usual routine and twist it. Silvio had no idea what was happening behind him totally unavoidable from him. If he did have mirrors he could have seen it coming and moved left out of danger but would he? Sometimes he gives the impression that priority is more important than safety!

@@scottlaaa well there are bus lanes that have this sign but it still carries on and become normal traffic lanes, meaning the sign does not mean the traffic lane has come to an end, just the regulations for bus lane has come to an end. As for the merging, yes it’s missing arrows, but it’s a fairly common sight in London where lanes just disappears and merges. Even in a bus, you probably wont see that car coming from that angle, unless you have the new ones with camera as mirrors.

@@roadbiker8333 the car wasn’t in a blind spot, a competent driver would be moving around in their seat getting a better field of view. also be expecting something like this happening so already be prepared for it and be at an appropriate speed to take action to avoid having to brake harshly. Also would be shoulder checking for the blind spot incase anyone was there. Why do you think i keep going on at Silvio about shoulder checks? Do you not realise the importance of safety? Plus if you brake hard on a bus you send passengers to the next dimension via an ambulance! So give buses a bit of space when you decide to change lanes etc

​@@scottlaaa No, That car will not show up in the driver's mirror at that angle, especially when it's coming from the right most lane and cutting in. Yea sure you can move around your head. but you still won't see a car coming from 2 lanes out. That's just basic physics. If a car is in the adjacent lane, then of course, the mirror would have covered it, but in this instance, the car was not from the adjacent lane. They were from the far right lane. Also, given that this is a merge without indication, this will be a merge in turn situation. Silvio already shoulder checked which the car WAS NOT in the left traffic lane. And when he was already inside the merge point, the car was still fully behind him. This is London, speed limit would be 20mph. The car would most definitely be speeding there as well.

To be fair, you shouldnhave gone in the keft kane as after you cross the bridge you are using two lanes. Plus you chased sfter him yo antsgonise him. How would you habe felt if he had done that to you. You should be blurring out peoples plates and faces. If that was me, id be suing you.

Sometimes when the road merges with or without warning, I indicate to let people coming from behind know that it is a merge. More a courtesy call to let them know, "hey, the road suddenly become 1 don't try to barge your way up."

@@scottlaaa lol.😂 so you are comparing a lane change and a merge…………… Nope, never changed my stance. The hgv failed to change lane safely and cut Ben up. So you are hallucinating again….. Here, it’s a merge between the bus lane and the left traffic lane. Which is a merge in turn practice. And in ben’s situation, ben was in his own lane, the hgv was in a different lane, it was not a merge, as both lanes have continues with their own separate lanes. Hgv crossed lane marking. A merge wont cross a lane marking. Two completely different situations, it’s like saying a plane is the same as a car, because both have wheels, and try to compare two scenarios. as per your original posting of the video. it was you changing lanes not the car driver. shown in the video when you follow the road markings etc. your lack of due care and attention was the only issue silvio.

Given you cycle this route everyday, I think you need to rethink how you exit the end of the bus lane. Alternatively there is a traffic free cycle route on the other side of the bridge.

@@TheMirrorGuy Yet more fail attempt by you. we have been through this many times In your own video where you cut up the motorcyclist by flying through a give way line, the "end of bus lane" sign is merely indicating that the bus lane regulation has ended. It does not mean the traffic lane has ended. It is an open end lane. Meaning the lane did not narrow down and the lane divider did not go towards the curb, or the end of the bus lane does not have a give way line. Meaning the traffic lane did not end, but the bus lane regulation ended. So here, the bus lane turns into normal traffic lane and merges with the left normal traffic lane into one lane. It really is not that hard, why do you struggle so much with reading the roads and how the road works?????

​@martinkelsen6049 I'm fine thanks. Eyes test in feb. 20/20 vision. Street view of the bridge reveals the bus lane ends at the stop (indicates by a road sign). Lane 2 splits into 3 lanes prior to the junction. Driver makes a late but clear change from 3 to 2 before the lanes split where as silvio effectively travels 2 lanes across traffic. Maybe act on your own advice. What he should have done was make a safe change into lane 2 before lane lane 1 ended. Now answer the question if you think I'm wrong
