The drugalyser seen in this video does not collect DNA, nor is the device capable of reading and storing DNA. Even if it did, the police do not have the authority to collect random DNA samples at the roadside and retain them. To do so would be a breach of data protection. If you are drugalysed at the roadside then you would be entitled to a copy of any of the data recorded via a subject access request to the relevant force.

I was pulled over for "speeding" and breathalysed at 9am on a Tuesday while going to work. When I got out of car they asked me why I go to work with shorts and a t-shirt (I work in a gym). I told them "I wasn't aware I was pulled over the fashion police". They let me go :)

The morning breathalyzer is to catch those with alcohol still in the system from maybe over drinking the night before. Kent police would wait outside the gate of the channel tunnel work site for guys coming into work. The wages were very high and p-ss ups very common. Plus I think the boys in blue were jealous and don't forget work goes on 24/7 someone on night shift could have his/her after work bevy at 5am. Around the markets in London there were the Early House Pubs just to cater for the market traders etc.

@Larry David But governments love people drinking, it keeps people in employment and odd the dole, it's good for exports, other tax's are collected from it along the way to the final consumer. It's just they don't like drink/drug drivers. Nor do the responsible drinkers. Sadly I have a family friend who has life changing injuries caused by a drunk driver, while enjoying a meal with his family sat in the garden of a pub they had walked to. The driver had careered across a roundabout, crossed a 10m verge, crashed through a wooden fence and ploughed into the garden seating.

I lost my faith in them years ago. It's all about quotas, power over others and massaging egos! Policing attracts a certain type of person; it's the perceived power that comes with the uniform! Psychological evaluations should be mandatory, as should random drug testing.

@@Donald.Raindrops I believe they are choosing the people they want and this is exactly the type they want. If recruits are not sufficiently bullying, they train them up under the tutelage of older, more "experienced" and narcissistic coppers, using Common Purpose NLP and indoctrination and ensure they can harm the public with Israely military physical force training and weaponry, which they have often used unnecessarily and with drastic results. It's how the Police were started and only when the public revolted was their image changed, thanks to propaganda like Dixon of Dock Green. People believed it for generations. Only seeing the reality, thanks to video evidence, do people realise that pretty much everything our Dear Leaders tell us (via the captured media) is a lie and that's why the Police are so triggered when they see THEY are being filmed too.

@Roger Allison I occasionally deal with the police through my work, I have a policeman neighbour and my wife's friend's brother in law is a policeman. @Roger Allison "Why shouldn't they give as good as they get when faced with a time wasting smart-arse?" The same reason the Queen's guards don't fool around when tempted to break composure. They have an important job to do. They are trained and paid to behave like professionals. Really, any job where you act as immature, unruly or offensive as others makes you and your department/company look bad.
@imjustadog1897
@imjustadog1897 4 жыл бұрын
@Roger Allison No it's not reasonable. The cop comes in and out of his personal space while he's recording. Why? Why does he need to imitate what he sees and experiences? If his body cam is recording, why is it necessary to put the camera in the guy's face, and bicker like a child? Someone needs to act like an adult and act professional especially since one person is being paid to act like a cop. If this was any other type of employee, they would be questioned and disciplined, but double standards for cops is a different story. The point is, the cop is better than this and showing how low he can go tells too much about his character. Yes people should act a certain way too, but some freedoms are granted to them when they're not working. The guy should get his information ran, get his ticket and be on his way. If he's inebriated or under the influence, offer a test, book him if he's aggressive or unruly, tow the car, be ready for the next offender.
@GBOB68
@GBOB68 4 жыл бұрын
@Roger Allison When you say he pointed a camera at someone who was pointing one at him. You should think about that for a minute. I'll give you a clue as to what I'm getting at. Who was the first one to start filming the situation? What's good for the goose and all that. You obviously can't get your head round the fact the driver of the car is just a random person whilst the policeman is a trained professional and should behave as such. Think about this before coming back to comment.

5 to 10 miles an hour over seems a bit..... Questionable. Especially if they are not traffic. I don't know how UK traffic cops typically work, but in NSW (Australia), most unless it's a school zone wouldn't bother stopping a car until about 20kph (about 12-13mph) over. Seems more at play here. In Australia though Police have the power to stop vehicle's for random breath (alcohol) and drug testing.

Overall the driver was lucid, pleasant and truthful and was in the event only questioned. As to whether the driver was going over the speed limit - I don't know. My guess is he probably was but only by a few miles per hour. My guess is also the policeman wanted to rack up his number of stops to meet his quota. The policeman should take further training. As a biker in Sweden, I've been targeted by cops. It's so damn apparent. One guy stopped me for speeding..I was doing 120 km/h which is 10 above the highway speed. I'm literally being passed by cars at 130-140 km/h.. I get stopped. He then says I was doing 150...I laugh because i knew it was bs and wear a camera. Eventually he starts to think i've been drinking. Because yes, most bikers get on the fucking highway when they're blasted on a sports bike. Obviously nailed the test. He then just goes "slow down" and leaves. This shit is SO common for us bikers.

@Roger Allison 1. The officers had no evidence of speeding, they merely asserted it, which is questionable 2. The police officer was impolite from the get go, which is unprofessional behavior 3. The "smartass" you're talking about was quite polite and well within his rights to query the officer 4. It's very unprofessional of the officer to possibly escalate the situation through his petty "mirror game" rather than trying to gain trust through polite interaction, which would be very well possible given the calm and polite behavior of the detainee 5. If professional conduct can go out the window as soon as someone is deemed a "smartass" then that professionalism is nothing but a thin worthless veneer, because letting an ad hominem fallacy inform your behavior is in itself antithetical to professionalism. Lastly, an observation: you trust police officers to determine and solve societal problems without them having to provide evidence. It comes across as mildly ironic to me that you see the people who question authority as the ones that used to come whining to the teacher trusting an authority figure to solve their problems for them, when it's you right here in this thread that exhibits a child like trust in authority figures to do just that.

Recording cops is your only protection against bad people who happen to be cops and are abusing powers given to them by the law. Because thats what this is really about, bad people or poorly trained police officers. Well worth it, do we really want people doing 35 in a 30, there's a school 50 miles away could have killed a child.

I got pulled over for speeding on a motorway near Doncaster recently and I was guilty by a long shot, could have gone to court. But I was polite to both police officers and they were really nice and friendly towards me, I did say that I had not realised I was speeding but because I was polite with them I got away with words of advice. I was doing 28 miles an hour over the limit so I was lucky.

These rude police were just on a fishing expedition trying to find any offence they could think of.

Roger Allison Err yes of course I would! Are you really suggesting that you think this stop somehow made the area safer? I’ve got friends and family who have called the police after burglaries and robberies and the police don’t even bother to turn up or investigate because they haven’t got the resources, yet they always seem to find the time to harass people not breaking the law. It’s ridiculous.
@uktokers
@uktokers 4 жыл бұрын
Roger Allison Oh come off it. The video blatantly shows that they were only on a fishing expedition and a confrontational one at that. The police showed no real interest in prosecuting him for an alleged minor speeding offence. Meanwhile there was probably a real crime being committed nearby but no police could respond as they’re too busy dealing with non-incidents like this one.

Roger Allison I watched the video and saw what happened. The police had an awful and aggressive attitude and wanted to find something to pin on the driver but they failed. I’m sure they would’ve loved to do him for speeding. They even brought up the issue of using his mother’s Motability vehicle, talk about clutching at straws!

Roger Allison You’ve already tried that old chestnut but like I said, the police rarely turn up when called because of limited resources. That’s the main reason I find it so infuriating that they manage to find the time for pointless fishing expeditions like the one in this video. Perhaps your tune will change when you call the police one day and they fail to attend because they’re too busy wasting their precious time.

@Roger Allison This person has been targeted by the police. They weren't protecting anyone, the police were abusing their powers to intimidate and harass this guy. Know what your talking about before protecting these plonkers. You just wait till your on the receiving end of police intimidation and harassment.

@Roger Allison "Just wait until you or your loved one gets hit by a speeding or drunk driver." You say that on multiple threads. It says much more than what you think it should. It doesn't inspire confidence in law enforcement. It implies that law enforcement doesn't always do their jobs when they're supposed to. It sounds hopeful that someone does get hurt. After someone gets hurt or killed in an accident, what can law enforcement do besides report it? They should have stopped the speeding driver or drunk sooner, right?
@imjustadog1897
@imjustadog1897 4 жыл бұрын
@Roger Allison Didn't say that they should stop all crimes. You're hoping by chance that if a cop doesn't spot a speeder or drunk, people learn the hard way that cops have an important job to do when they pull people over. How is that a good defense for cops doing their jobs?
