What a brave young Woman. When I was working with Homeless men in inner Sydney I met many Aboriginal people, who told me of their stories and I used to feel honoured to do so. The thing I was told by my Teacher while studying at T.A.F.E. was remember when you meet someone of Aboriginal decent, your white and regardless of how helpfull or kind you are, you are seen as part of what occurred in the past. I have always tried to bear that in mind.

How long has the 'talking' been going on? The 'gap' will not close until indigenous Australians are properly recognised as a people who have so much to offer the whole of Australia. Must they wait for another century to pass before their rights are met? Give them back their dignity and respect in themselves. This can only happen if the government stops mouthing platitudes and gets to talking with elders on an equal footing to find out how to and then do it.
