this song broke me when thinking about my story's finale. five central characters who had strong relations with others, suddenly disappearing. there's a complex spiderweb here but basically they all had an awareness of the multiverse and the fact that they were in fiction, and i, as a writer, am a physical force and have a version of myself in the story. this version of me loses her lover, one of her closest friends/her colleague, and some more people she was very close to all in one day. and it's all because of her. she had to write the ending. it's all because of *me.* i'm crying and i feel like I've just murdered my own family. i haven't reacted like this at all since i first came up with the idea back in about October of 2021. the characters all come back in 8 years time, but 8 years is a long time. a lot of characters grow because of this event but it doesn't make it hurt any less.
