I like this version compare from other's cover. Because this one really shows how sad this is, while the others are hiding their sad tunes with upbeat tunes mistaking it as a 'fun' song. It's honestly represents sad people or depressed people. Because it shows that your hiding your pain from everyone and the world. Until someone gets your message, which is sometimes rare because you hide it too good. That person is either your friend or your loved ones. You don't want to waste the other's time because you think that your being annoying to them. I know this is supposed to be someone who passed away but it also shows how depressed or sad people hide their pain from the world. Japanese songs always do this which makes it sadder. The more upbeat the song the more sadder when you finally hear their real message. I'm not saying every Japanese songs are like this only some.
@Cheroobian3 жыл бұрын
I think you read into the original being upbeat way too much. The song being upbeat isn’t about simply hiding the feelings, it in fact plays a role in the message being sad. Death is a very heavy subject to tackle since all of us deal with it when it comes to loved ones. Giving this song an upbeat feeling allows us to cry those tears while giving us that closure we’ve needed during our grieving period.
@hinleung75022 жыл бұрын
@@Cheroobian to add to it, i would say the upbeat nature also urges the listener to instead of fixating on the losses, but to celebrate the moments in the life of the person who passed. To be optimistic basically

You did a great job, don't apologize for doing your best; "You there, feeling that you're gonna fail, you who are going to give up, thinking that it's impossible. What are you saying? This is the best opportunity to do your best! Yes! Do your best!" Wrong quote... "Did you really do your best? 'Finish' means doing everything that you can do! Look at everyone! It's because of these people's help! You cannot do it alone by yourself! Throw yourself into it! So, I'm gonna say with my strong feeling: Do everything that you can do!" is the one I meant to get

Where are these quotes from?? They sound really nice
I feel this is one of the few situations where the songwriting is good enough that despite the "lost in translation" elements, it still gets the point across through its poetry. The only thing I'd critique at all is that I feel like the original was about letting someone go, while this version is more about not being able to let go. But also that could just be my interpretation. Also I cried. Thank you.

This song and cover are very dear to me. The lyrics spoke so much to me when my dad died last year, and it rings through today. Especially the line “I knew that all along, you know, how you were already gone.” He was always in and out of hospital for the last 15 years with medical issues, so when he died we all got by for a few months by telling ourselves, “He’s still in the hospital.” But we all knew. I’d like to thank you for this cover JubyPhonic, as even for a few minutes I can feel like I have to chance to say goodbye to him again. ❤

The ambiguity in the meaning of this song is genius. People are relating it to loved ones passing away, to accepting your own death, to their own experiences with those topics and others; mental illness and the like. When I think of this song, I think of my current friend group. It's the most fun I've ever had and being with them just makes me really happy. My interpretation of the song is making the most of my time with them, knowing that though I'll lose them, I have to enjoy what I have left and communicate my thoughts and feelings to them clearly.
@curious56243 жыл бұрын
God it just now hit me that this song truly is about dealing with the loss of someone... The words the person probably told were, “I can’t always be there for you but just because I’m not there doesn’t mean don’t live your life. Live for yourself, I’ll be waiting on the other side for you. Just be patient.” or something along those lines. The person was possibly an adult figure in their life and the singer is a child who didn’t quite understand how they would loose them. “But won’t you be there all the time?” “Won’t you go to Heaven then? But the sky is so far away! How will I see you?” “But doesn’t dying take a really long time? I have to be super old and I can’t wait that long to see you again.” And then at the end the child finally understands their adult figure just couldn’t be there all the time but just because you understand something doesn’t necessarily mean you accept it and so they constantly keep asking for clarification, they’re in denial. Edit: Realized shortly after writing this that this could truly apply to anything not just an adult, it’s like that saying goes “You don’t realize how precious something is until you’ve lost it” or something like that. You imagine your entire life with that person and never really imagine your life with them gone. When they are abruptly taken from you out of nowhere it’s like a truck hit you with a reality check that, “No they eventually have to go.”

Hi... So since this comment section is full of testimonies. I remember when I was ten-ish, I spent time with my favorite cousin. Her name was Angel. Through the years, as we got older, she was my favorite person. We spent time together, grew up a little together, and by the time she was 13, she took her own life. I never got to watch her grow up, to turn into who she was meant to be. And now I'm sixteen, and still have her funeral pamphlet. I miss her, and wish she could come back. I just wanted to get to know her. I've long since forgotten what her last hug felt like. My last interaction with her was hugging her, and saying goodbye. I didn't know it'd be the last one.

One of my closest friends died and none of us were expecting it even her family. It wasn't suicide, turns out she has weak nerves that caused for one to burst one day. That explained why she seemed to always get tired easily and always have coughs. This should've been prevented if only the doctor saw this condition when she was still a child. It's been 3 years since she passed away. I remember always waiting for her chatbox to pop up and greet me again, to give me her letters which she always write in a yellow paper. I should've got 3 more letters from her by now. Her last message to me was her promising to keep her gifts for me until I come back home to our hometown and meet her again (we moved to a different house because of my mom) . Which obviously didn't happened, not anymore.. She's literally the sunshine to my life. She's the one who unknowingly helped me on my darkest days by just simply hanging out with me. How I missed going back to the old days.

AHHHH. THIS IS ONE OF MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE SONGS, THANK U SO MUCH. :'D I love how your voice is so gentle in this as if the person really is accepting their end.
Honestly my favorite cover from Juby, Her soft and angelic voice really compliments the songs mood. I also like the meaning I believe her lyrics are trying to convey. A person refuses to believe a person they loved and cherished is gone. They live on their life trying to convince themselves that the person is still alive, Though deep down they do of course know that they are gone. They keep asking the same question, “Are you still here?” And although they know the answer they want a clear explanation as to why this person is gone. They come to understand somewhat that that person is really gone but despite the pain keep living as they know that’s what the loved one would have wanted, To live on and keep living and not go on to where they were just yet. That person lives their life to the fullest, Getting a husband/ wife and children and having such amazing adventures and stories to their loved one once they joined them. They often have conversations with this person as they still do believe that they are there listening. During the last moments of their life they come to fully understand that that person is truly and will forever be gone from their current life. They die happily knowing they will soon join them again and have so much to tell them.

I have one doubt, if you learn the concept behind the two latest albums (Elma and That’s why I gave up on music), aren’t ALL albums that Yorushika has produced connected to ONE story? The lyrics in EACH AND EVERY single song from each respective album fits together so easily. One example that reinforces my theory is that the woman, Elma, apparently visits Sweden (Hole in the heart, recent album Elma, location Gotland in Sweden). Furthermore, in the ”The clouds and the ghost” MV (album natsukusa ga jama wo suru) we see the man taking a stroll through Stockholm which is also located in Sweden. Coming this far, can’t we conclude that the man taking a stroll through Stockholm is actually Amy (the man who commits suicide in the two most recent albums Elma and That’s why I gave up on music)?

02:51-03:01 is my favorite part. for me your voice just fits so good to that lyrics. and it sounds like if you knew someone with depression, who has suicidal thoughts and you thought you were able to help them. but then one day they decided to leave forever. and those ten seconds sound like someone who is regretting that they weren't able to save that someone.

Thanks for covering this song Juby. I discovered the original song by sheer chance last year very shortly after my mother's passing. It was a really rough and dark time for me, one that I'm still not totally over, and as unoriginal as it sounds songs like this helped me pull through it. Seeing this pop up again in my sub feed gives me a melancholy sort of happiness, but I'm glad you're here to keep spreading on the message of this song to others who might need it like I did.

Ooooof I didn't know about that homonym, this song hits so much harder knowing that. Thanks for the great video!

It's in the times when we start to truly take the time to calm down and take a look at our lives to truly appreciate how beautiful life is, even if it causes us pain and hardships.
