This piece holds a special place in my heart because it touches on a journey I've been on lately-learning to embrace simplicity. As someone with some traits of perfectionism, I often strive to make things bigger, better, and more complex. I’m inspired by the intricate compositions in soundtracks like The Witcher 3 and Lord of the Rings, where every instrument blends perfectly in a rich, complex tapestry. But sometimes, that drive for perfection can spiral into “it’s not good enough” self-talk that stifles creativity and self-esteem. That's why I’ve been challenging myself to create simpler music-stripping away the layers and finding beauty in simplicity. The track I’m sharing with you today, friend, is the culmination of that journey. It’s a simple, immersive music that made me realize that simplicity doesn’t diminish quality, just as complexity doesn’t automatically add value. I hope this behind-the-scenes story resonates with you and encourages you to appreciate your work for what it is-already perfect in its own way. I’m like that with my writing. I’m always adding more, seeing new sides and dimensions, because stories are complex and multifaceted, especially when they involve a lot of people. I’m trying to figure out which sides of the story needs to be told, how much is enough, how much mystery is needed to balance it out, because I always want the full picture to be painted. I feel like I can achieve completion and touch upon many different hearts that way. I’ve been on a journey of storytelling alone for many years. I have had that exact thought in my head while writing my current story: “no this isn’t good enough.” I’m prone to jealousy when I read/watch other stories I admire because I find new aspects I haven’t touched upon, and I fear others will notice too. But then I remind myself: “why repeat it? People already have this story, and what you have created is something no one else has seen or imagined. Will you sacrifice authenticity from your own heart, something irreplaceable, to iterate what has already been done?” That always puts me back in the right frame of mind. I have read a super powerful story that was less than 200 pages, from one point of view, written in the most simplistic and rudimentary way, and it still resonates in my heart like the remnants of an exploded star. Sometimes it’s a moment in time that spreads across our lives, other times it’s the long and winding journeys that bring us on our own journey alongside it. Both can have everlasting impacts; it’s all about the heart behind it, and what you want to accomplish as the storyteller. Simplicity and complexity do not dominate or subjugate each other. When weighed on a scale, they are balanced, because the universe itself is made of both. Light and dark, heat and cold, silence and noise, you cannot have one without the other. There is a time for everything, and it’s all about doing the right thing at the right time for the right reason.
