Fit the tool to the situation not the situation to the tool. Great insight, thank you.

Thank you. Yes, many sources point to vertical fist being used in bare knuckle boxing from a previous period. Also, Isshinryu Karate and Wing Chun use vertical fist strikes far more that twist punches.

That type of vertical fist is used in some types of taichi as well as the horizontal fist oddly enough. And we know Fairbairn had experiences in the East. He was an operator.

Excellent. Perfect example of what is shown in all-in fighting. The Solar Plexus is one of the best targets. Thank you.

It's no surprise boxing was a part of the training. Boxing, like any sport deliberately uses rules to focus on fist fighting skills over the "less elegant" (to the Marquess of Queensberry) wrestling and kicking. But a lot of it's applicable to real life so long as wrestling and kicking are included and accounted for. Especially learning how to throw a punch. You integrate your entire body into a short, non telegraphed punch which looks brutally effective. Most people can't do that without at least some training.

Very good point. That emphasis on short range entire body generation of power is required in both examples I demonstrated. Particularly so in the under the radar punch to the solar-plexus. Good points all.
