The marble table in the kitchen is probably for baked good. Marble is perfect for kneading bread, rolling doughs, making pasta and more. Knives would wear and dull quickly on it.

As an American whose family left basically no heirlooms behind, it staggers me that these incredible pieces of antique furniture weren't valued enough to be taken out of this house and either put into a modern storage facility, or passed on to be appreciated by other members of the family. Even one item with such immense historical and personal significance would be a cherished possession to someone like me.

The people that lived here were Catholic. The Templer things all over the home are something else. How wonderful I think its great. God bless them and the Bros of Decay. Thanks again Lesley

Exactly my thoughts. The Templar markings were everywhere. And the crests I do believe were their ancient relatives. Would be so interesting to learn the history of the family. Also, why are they gone from the place now? Surely there are descendants.

Beautiful property especially the kitchen, it's so bright and cheerful. I'd love to see the whole house given a thorough cleaning and then see it full of life again. Such a waste to leave it to deteriorate. Of course the floors and ceilings would have to be fixed. Maybe it could be used as a bed and breakfast or a hotel but it is so very sad that it is lost to the world.

I was so transported by going to this house with you Leslie and Danny. It was like the most wonderful dream, and in the dream I lived in this house back in the time .. I could just see myself in my mind’s eye sitting by the fireplace in that room with the huge huge chimney all the way up! I could feel myself sitting at the big formal dinning table with special guests and asking to have the platter passed to me. I could imagine myself pouring water into my wash bowl in the morning and splashing the cool water on my face, drying with the linens, and hanging the washing cloth on one of the ornate hooks on the wash stand. This is the most special house I have ever ever seen. I love it more than I can even say. Speechless, indeed. Thank you a million times for showing me this house. I will never forget it!

The stuffed animal is a badger. The "beach chair" is caned not mesh. The white metal water vessel is a watering can. Often used for watering plants, it was interesting to see in a room for personal hygiene. Did you ever figure out if the jugs in the basement contained olive oil? Danny when you have domesticated animals from chickens to cattle, you just say "raising chickens"(which every animal you have). Wild flocks of ducks and geese if not domestic are not "raised" they hopefully are "passing through" or migrating. The awesome kitchen stove and the hexagon chimney is beautiful even covered in soot. With all the beds I wonder if this palace/château was a part of the escape route for Jewish children during WW ll ?Nice work and love how Danny is more vocal and pointing out historical items. Well done Danny I learned about the crosses from you. Thank you!

Another wonderful discovery of ancestral life. ( in Portugal ) I noticed those "iron" floor containers in the first room and was bummed they were skipped. But you found in following room. I don't know if this is correct, but my thinking is on cool evenings they could put embers from the fire for warmth. Please know I LOVE IT when you check in cabinets, armoires, drawers, desks, etc. Also, I DON'T CARE how long it takes...I always watch to the end (I would even watch a Part 1 & Part 2)❤️🙏🏼. The round bronze object that appears on the ground at 34:30 is a brazier. It was filled with oak charcoal, lit slowly and served to heat the room like a stove. If the coals were properly maintained, without moving them excessively or adding more coal, they could heat a room throughout the night or on the coldest days of the year. I myself have one in my house that belonged to my grandparents. King regards.

The shady light from the shy lights lit it up in all corners and the tile is just lovey. And even had the old pots. I noticed some newer stoves too. You had eough room to put a large brass expresso machine. Mixers. 2 fridges and a giant freezer. Just really running on. What I could do with that kitchen. And that seperate cooking room, now wasn't that really something. Couldn't quite figure that out unless they cooked alot of meat in there maybe. And the stain glass sun room was just beautiful. The way you say João it's SO CUTE! I love listening to people around the world talking portuguese and paying attention to their accent. One easier way to say João (and any other poruguese word ended with "ão") it's to think about the sound lions do, their roar, and trying to imitate (without the "r" part) while saying the "ão" part.

We have loved your European house tours for years. I used to think:" don't show where this is or it'll be broken into". Later I thought, nobody gives a damn about all those treasures and they are left to rot....so show where these places are located so people can either have some lovely cherished pieces in their humbler homes or sell them to others who will love them. Those who walk out and can be so blase about leaving these gems, don't deserve them. Keep up the good work! Thanks.

It used to be that only wealthy people could afford to go on a summer stay at a beach. So there were much fewer people. One of the hobbies of the wealthy children was to search the beach for the coolest shells that the ocean washed up each new season. I'm shocked at how old this home is!! It is of medieval times. The fireplace in the kitchen has a cooking surface that would've folded down, so the fire was below it, and many pots could be placed there. Would've been a very large amount of food cooking. The artifacts in this home are dated back possibly to the 1500's!! I love the history that you have uncovered!!! ❤
