I find that Danny lets Leslie go and only interjects when a slight correction is needed or when additional cogent historical data deserves pointing out. Danny's camera skills as Leslie guides is exceptional. Chateau de Purnon, another huuuuge French property is being restored. It is major, costly, time consuming work and to bring up to today's living standards with electricity & plumbing: floors, walls & ceilings need to be surveyed, cut into and then repaired as though not disturbed. They have obtained a special restoration grant by the French gov't or architectural antiquities organization to help with the repairs, as well as their own fortune. Owners have og floor plans and explain the purpose of rooms, maid/man servant rooms, work rooms, secret stairs etc., which I find helpful in informing me of what went on here. Many of the small painted vignettes over doors & fireplaces are copies of famous art by French artists of the time. I would have like to have explored much more of the kitchen to see where washing up was done, dumb waiter, bread ovens, cabinets etc.

So much has been removed from this castle, I pray someone just took the valuables and stored them and they did not get stolen. I wish I was rich, I would buy this and open it up so people could feel the part of history that once was living there. I would imagine the sale of certain objects and material from this marvelous monstrosity would help to preserve it to a large degree. We must understand that the times we live in now do not support such grand opulence. That does not reduce their grander in any way but it speaks to a culture that may be lost to time. A culture which represented oppression and profit from servitude. Let us not forget.

Why doesn't someone make it into a luxury hotel. Some bedrooms would need to be converted to bathrooms or bathrooms added into the larger rooms. Better than letting it fall into ruin and decay. It always breaks my heart to see books left behind or family photos. You always do such an amazing job of finding the history of places you explore and are so respectful of the place.

Don't think there would be demand for it, France has one castle per village/town they just have so many castles that a few just need to be abandoned that is just the way of things, plus rich people probably wouldn't want to come here they'd want to be in hotels surrounded by rich parts of big cities such as Paris or Nice not in a small village.

Having two people sharing their knowledge is more enlightening than one person constantly guessing about items and history. Shared knowledge is never a detriment in these explores. As I grow older I am less and less "thrilled" by exclusive and beautiful spaces for the privileged few. But as a student and instructor of the Humanities, I understand they were also patrons of craftspeople and artists. Eventually, some of that wealth was used to create public spaces where ordinary citizens could walk and gather in the presence of beautiful architecture and enjoy the works of great sculptors and painters.

This is an extraordinarily beautiful mansion. I’m awe struck at the mammoth size of this castle. In its day it must have been unbelievably awesome. They were so mindful to decorate with such amazing details, everything was matched together perfectly. The theater room and library were so awesome. Wonderful video! I have seen this château in several other videos, and you two are the only ones who bothered to research its history and give us some details about the building and its features. I am pleased that the building is up for sale and that whomever inherited it was able to go in and remove the tapestries and other items they wanted to keep or have preserved in museums. It is still owned by the original family who might have preferred a more modern accommodation and lifestyle. However, when you think about it, it is a smart marketing to let Urban Explorers in to let the audience discover this amazing place. It's been for sale since 2017 for an astronomic amount of money. It also needs major electrical and plumbing work and the top two floors have suffered the most from decades of neglect. Have you seen any working bathrooms besides the nicely designed bedrooms?

I find it wonderful that these beautiful places have not been vandalized! Some that you show us have SO MANY pieces that must be worth a ton. Whether it is furniture or rugs or nick knacks or painting, frames , mirrors, even the marble facades of the fireplaces....all of this is very valuable. It says something to me and that is even the down and out prone to theft people of France must still have a sense of respect. If these places were in the US they would have been stripped of every single thing worth a dollar and up. I wonder how they have managed to keep so much stuff in these places and yet, they are not vandalized.

After looking at several of these videos of these abandoned palaces, castles, manors, mansions, homes of all shapes and sizes and so on, one thing is clear. We are all just temporary residents on this planet wherever we may go while living in it. We get to live maybe 80 good years and then we are done. Eventually the next generations will become the new residents whether from the same family tree or not. These abandoned places are proof that ultimately all lives end and only the future knows how that will turn out. The stories and memories of people, events, activities that have occured is all that is left behind. We must use our time well and enjoy the only life we will ever have as we will never come this way again.

I love how the fabric on the walls with the picture fames line up exactly right with the picture fame fabric on the two head boards of the beds. Very beautiful. It is a castle on the outside but you can see it was decorated like a palace on the inside.

52:44 the moment I decided not to subscribe...you showed 3 secret room doors but only opened one...now I have to die not knowing what was in the other two secret rooms inside that bedroom. This kind of torture is criminal. LOL. The hidden spaces and hidden rooms are FAR MORE INTERESTING than the open spaces you can just see. This holds true for all of these types of places. PLEASE spend more time on the HIDDEN SPACES.

What a place!!! I wish I could buy that castle. I would make it beautiful, and restore it as best as I could to make it as close to the original as possible. I cant believe places like this are just left abandoned, with such beautiful things still inside, and a 900 yr old wooden table, looking gorgeous. This castle is a national treasure for France. Its such a shame. I hope who ever buys it fixes it up and returns it to its full glory. So amazing.
