Closed Lid Air Box Cover fabricated for a 2023 Mach 1 Mustang

In this video I show you how I made the Perspex air box lid for use on my Mach 1 Mustang.

Please send an email to [e-mail], please be patient as I need to get this copied at a local shop due to the size. Depending on the size of your printer you will probably need to get the outline printed in a store.

NOTE: please seek advice from a professional car mechanic before installing any parts / mods to your engine due to warranty issues.
NOTE: before cutting the Perspex please cut a piece of thin plastic as a template to ensure the outline has not changed due to printing and is the correct size.
NOTE: I have only offered the outline for this cover for display use, if you chose to use it and attach any cover fabricated to your car its at your own risk.

Would love to see a video on the snorkel. They make stuff that for that but you have to take the bumper off.

Love the filter too. I just put on an air raid blue filter on my gt350 kit on my 16 GT.

@@Taino5.0 Hi, so I contacted a company that specialises in snorkels, Velossa. They did not have one for the Mach 1. But as Ford had done most of the work it just needed to be finished. I had to fabricate two flexible black rubber inserts for the area behind the grille vent to create the snorkel. The inserts were attached with push pins. I do try to show this in the videos I have made, it's not easy to see to take pictures. The finished result looks factory. It just takes time to do this as you have limited access. @@icemach1964I’d love to see more how you got it in there. Like you just went forward through the vent or via the back of the intake. They make them for my car out of hard plastic but o would have to take the bumper off.

Ford engineers spent a lot of time with research and development on that intake and here you are closing it up ? I don’t get it ? I don’t really understand the point of doing that ? but I guess it’s pretty cool and different. And I’m not hating just trying to understand it. 🇺🇸💪🏼🐎

Hi, thanks for watching and did you see both the videos I made on this? If we agree that the last thing you want is hot air entering your air box then that's the first reason. Second, Ford did design the inlet system on the Mach 1 to take cold air from the front of the car as all of the ducting is already installed from the factory, all I have done is remove the cover that blocked the inlet vent, the cover is removable so I'm using it how it was designed by Ford. Lastly the new S650 GT and dark horse both have closed air box's taking cold pressurised air from the front of the car. Ford wanted to get as much NA power as possible from the new cars so I'm going with the theory / design they used on the S650. I can't see any downside to this mod and my IATs are lower as I monitor them. These are the reasons I based my decision on. I hope that helps answer your question 👍🏼

the original filter is quite large. It sticks up a bit so it looks like you have to change the original filter to be able to put a cap on.

Hi, I never used the original filter, I used an Airaid / Ford performance filter so I honestly don't know. Sorry i could not help. Thank you for watching the video 👍🏼

Why are you prohibiting cold air from being force fed onto the air filter? That airbox is aready sealed to the hood, gets cold air ram-air force fed directly onto the filter. Putting a lid on it starves the air filter of cold, fresh air.

Hi, iv actually done the opposite. I have closed the air box from taking hot air from under the hood. The rubber seal does not prevent hot air entering the airbox. Then I have removed the cover to allow more pressurised cold air to enter the air box. If you watch both my videos you will understand. Thanks for watching

​​@@icemach1964The rubber around the box seals against the hood mat... 🤷‍♂ When you don't remove the mat or change the hood, no need for that. But if you do, your mod is a great solution.️
