The Lone Ranger segments originally aired together with Tarzan as the Tarzan/Lone Ranger Adventure Hour on CBS from September 6, 1980 to September 5, 1981, and then were also joined by Zorro as The Tarzan/Lone Ranger/Zorro Adventure Hour from September 12, 1981 to September 4, 1982.

Great job on this Closer Look video. I actually have these sets that a friend sent to me, mainly to compare the Filmation animation with TMS's. ;)

For me, William Conrad is always Cannon, the Fattest Private Detective on TV (until Nero Wolfe!). Conrad also did the narration for the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons.

He also narrated the short-lived sci-fi action series The Highwayman. :D Such an amazing voice. I need to pick up Cannon one of these days.

Zorro's "partner" was Miguel. I guess since the Lone Ranger's writers were used to writing for a pair of heroes, they gave Zorro a "Tonto". As I watched Zorro and Miguel, I couldn't help, but think of the Green Hornet and Kato. I liked Bernardo in the Disney live action Zorro, but I just could have done without Miguel. Btw, did you know the Lone Ranger was a granduncle to the Green Hornet?

I got these two sets Lone Ranger/Zorro but was upset about the dvd extras for these was the same one. If I recall, they talked about Zorro. There was nothing about the Lone Ranger at all. Also the Tarzan set sadly has been the only set released thus far still to this day, season one. Warner Bros didn't even bother to clean them up either, episodes are not crisp and clear by any stretch.

...for some reason, I'm starting to think that a time traveler we know about, and love, should go, and end up meeting these two heroes, one then the other, if not both of them at one time. Like when he ended up meeting Robin Hood. You know what I mean?
