Zoos do a ton of super important conservation work and for the most part are a really good thing. Just make sure you are only visiting accredited zoos and ones that are actively working on conservation. Love that the Toronto Zoo is making ethical and sustainable info so readily available. (And the cellphone recycling thing is awesome!!!)

The Palm Oil signs were interesting - i honestly didn't know there was sustainable practices; I've only heard that it's bad, bad, bad. Worth looking into! Also, I totally get the iffy-ness about going to zoos, but in the last 2 decades, most zoos have accommodated to helping animals that needed rehabilitation or were rescued from circuses. They've made enclosures much more roomy & natural unlike in the 80s & 90s. EDIT: omg you give your old phones to your grandparents! That's soooooo cute & sweet!

About the palmoil: the oil palm tree is the best and most efficient source of natural plant fat. Comparable crops like coconut trees, rapeseed, soy ... all need more space, water and nutrients to produce the same amount of fat. And we need fat. Palm oil is also no more unhealthy than other saturated fats, it only becomes dangerous when processed improperly. So just consume responsibly 😊 a big part of which is buying less processed foods and cooking more yourself without palmoil. 😊

They were raised in Pennsylvania but moved to LA and now they each have 2 apartments so Nikki has 1 apartment in LA and one in PA and so does Gabi.

I live by Toronto and the zoo is so familiar, but it's weird seeing it in a volg because I'm so used to watching people vlog in America and places I've never been, but I've been to that zoo too many times.

Breaks my heart to see creatures behind glass like that. Found it interesting that Kelsey clearly had some internal conflict about going to a zoo too. The last time I went I lied to myself and told myself they were being cared for really well. (As if profit isn’t the cause of animals being stolen in the first place.) “Conservation” is like “Philanthropy” - “too little, too late” and an insult to the sentient soul. I guess at least now we all understand a little about what it’s like to spend ones life in a cage.

fun fact: peacocks are only male. peahens are the females. peafowl are what they are called when referring to the bird in general. SO a fun 'dad' joke is: what color eggs does a pea peacock lay? answer: they don't lay eggs, cause they are boys. LOL the peahens (girls) lay eggs.

Good to see you questioning your decision to go to the zoo. Zoos are prisons for innocent animals, they're often bred into them or taken from the wild and kept captive there for their entire lives. Wild animals roam far and wide but when kept in zoos only have small cages to live their whole lives. They mostly die from desperation, often committing suicide from depression and abuse. Please consider visiting an animal sanctuary instead where rescued animals live their lives in peace and freedom.
