You'll be back there in 6 months guaranteed - if nothing else than to swap out seasonal wear Now you've organised like with like and Eunice can see what she has, it would be a great time for her to go back through and see if she can declutter doubles or anything else. Another suggestion might be for Eunice to have all the hangers turned around, and she turns it back when she actually wears something, so she can see at a glance what is getting worn and what is taking up space.

I had this many clothes a year ago…if not more. Now thanks to this channel and lots of hard work I’m down to a single closet that is really only half full. It has been so freeing to let go of things. I’ve donated and sold over half of my belongings on this journey and still more to go. I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off of me. April really is out here changing lives. Mine for sure!!!!

Obviously, thoughtful and beautiful organizing. But many things can be true at once: E loves having what has but she also has more inventory than she can handle-and something is bothering her about letting go. Maybe a fear of loss or need in some other area of life, or equating the collection of items with her business success and worries about that. I wish her lots of strength to explore and choose solutions that work for her.

For dry cleaning hangers I would take them back to cleaners with the next clothes to be cleaned or hang my donating clothes with them for donation. Loving the results!!! A 3 month check in may help to see if some tweaks are needed and to structure a review for pruning no longer serving items.

There needs to be some sort of "staging" area for her near the entry to the home where she can quickly process incoming packages, dry cleaning (&swapping hangers at that time leaving the metal ones and plastic wrapping to remove instantly), and stage outgoing items. Frankly most people need this in their homes, especially in the modern era where we have so many more delivered packages than previous generations.

26:48 - if she wasn't using the more in your face labels before, she isn't going to use the more hidden ones now. I agree she should find some money in her budget for an assistant. It's also a good idea to recognize the limitations of her space and begin using the one in one out rule when it comes to clothing.

Great job April!! Woohoo!! Have you considered doing the “backward hanger” inventory check with Eunice? I wonder if she realizes how much she has compared to how much she actually uses. I’m overwhelmed by the amount of clothing in there. That would stress me out!!! But, that’s just me. Regarding the hanger - dry cleaner issue, if she took her hanger and asked them to use it instead, maybe they’d do that since she is such a good customer.

I just don’t think if E has any spare time it’s going to be used maintaining this area. She has such beautiful things, though, that it may be worth the expense of hiring someone to maintain spaces for her weekly or even monthly (hang things up according to your system, unpack dry cleaning, switch out seasonal clothing, expired products, etc). She seems like such a fun and interesting person who doesn’t love organizing or downsizing-no shame if it isn’t her thing.

That may be because of her previous (lack of) organisation: if one doesn’t see one already has a number of white shirts (or even if 9ne knows one has them, but can’t find them anyways), one will buy more as needed.., now that it’s organised, Eunice will be able to pick her favourites and let some of the rest go.

Random idea, since the off season storage will change by season, maybe finding a stick on clear patch like is on the one side to put on the other? Then she can turn them around in winter and label what is in there. And it makes it easier for seasonal swapping as then she will see the label for warm months and collect and store those items.

The organization in this video is top-notch, especially when it comes to showcasing the different clothing categories. Seeing everything at once can really make a difference in how you interact with your closet. I really hope to have a space like this one day. Right now I kinda hide all of my clothing in 3 separate places in the apartment and it's true that what is out of sight is out of mind. Having gliding doors on my dresser also messes with me, cause I can't keep open more than one section on the closet and I always need to glide through the sections. A great video! 10 out of 10😁! I can't wait for the skincare!

No matter how much you organize for Eunice she still needs to get rid of another third of her items. In reality no one needs 30+ items of each color. She has beautiful items so I’m sure it’s hard to decide, but the excess will not help her with maintaining. The loungewear items are way too much-the key is having less and doing laundry more often. Also, the hats are crazy. Great work as always. Not judging, but we all need to get to the realization that we only need so much. Donate to a good cause; I donated work related items to a Charity that provides interview/work apparel for woman in need. Now it’s time for me to get rid of half of my jewelry; went overboard shopping during Covid years.Excellent work as always! Your nails always look beautiful.

The hairdryer question wouldn't be a thing in the UK as electrical sockets are not normally permitted in bath/shower rooms for safety reasons. Ofcourse some people here might choose to store that sort of equipment in their bathroom if they happen to have cupboard space. Mostly though they are stored & used in bedrooms where we would more likely use them. Moisture & electricity are not a healthy mix so I'm with April on this one too!

When I bring home my clothes from the dry cleaners, I immediately make a beeline for the closet, take out a proper empty hanger, open up the plastic wrap, put my clothing back onto that proper hanger and put it away. The dry cleaners’ hanger and plastic wrap is then taken straight out of the house and dispatched. Same habit some people swear by with keeping the mail from piling up in their homes - they open, sort, shred and otherwise handle it all right then and there. Better to get it over with.

But also because I rarely get things dry cleaned now, I take off the hanger and remove the plastic carefully right at the cleaners so I don’t even have to worry about getting it back to them and I just put the cleaned outfits into a nice canvas bag and immediately hang them on when I get home.

OBSERVATION: I watch your vlogs because I am learning not to have excessive amounts of clothing and art supplies. I watch because I dont want to be like the people you help. I was way off. I am learning that for me, I didnt have the things I have now (i.e. clothes, art supplies) growing up. I realize that If I never had those things, I can do without them and start to simplfy. Also, if a person is not organized how can they begin to simplify or purge. As we have seen people buying double of one item, it can be a vicious cycle of guilt from overy buying. I observed how using the same hanger really helps to organize the closet. The 2 hanger for the coats is great. I have learned so much form your vlogs and I know I will continue to learn a great deal more. Currently I am struggling with buying under the bed storage when I really need to just purge.

That was so satisfying! The after is wonderful - it feels like a shop. A teeny bit crowded for us more minimalist types but no denying that it's useable, that Eunice will be able to find pieces with ease and be able to take items out and replace them without fighting with so much that items fall off their hanger or items scrunch up from having no room. I think as far as the dryer hangers, unless it's an item which is very valuable and would be damaged by hanging on a metal hanger, then take off the plastic, pop them in with the metal hanger, then when she wears them for the first time after dry-cleaning - have a handy rubbish bin where she can toss the metal hanger - and replace that hanger with the velvet hangers when placing the item back?

I would put the hairdryer and hair styling tools in the skincare room on a vanity of some sort. A desk with a mirror, a table with a chair, etc.

Great tips. They are helping me deal with my husbands way of eliminating. Very hard to understand why someone wants to keep a dozen of the same item. Decluttering is exhausting mentally and physically. I find myself having to take 4 or 5 rounds with same area before i say its gotta go. Most importantly is once it has been designated to leave the space remove it. Keeps me from second guessing and going back thru it. Hugs. Lol this is for your tips video i did not realize vid changed while typing. Scratches for Izzy

You did a great job. The 1st episode definitely was anxiety producing but thats the 1st step to organizing a collection. Ive had to do that with my craft room several times while getting rid of stuff. Love the clear labels and soft closing drawers. Def keep the hair dryer there.

For the dry cleaner hangers ask if they will take them back. Then when you take your next item to the cleaners send the extra hangers. 😊

I think at some point you have to put your big girl pants on and just put your clothes back where you find them and tidy up after yourself. One can only simplify the process for someone to a certain extent and past that point there needs to be accountability 🙂 some people are just messier than others/care less about being neat and tidy, and that’s ok, but these people can’t or don’t really want to change. Speaking from experience with my partner of nine years - he is what he is 😂

What is Patik (sp?) I have inferred it's some type of clothing, I tried googling but couldn't figure it out. You may have explained in a previous video but I missed it.

@@soburlvt Might be? It's when she's reaching into the drawers where the loungewear is, they look like patterned clothes/linens?

I've been enjoying your videos and this series, and I have some questions. Why didn't you choose to place the out of season golf clothes on the shelf above the current golf clothes (like with like), instead of on the opposite end of the closet? What is the color order you're using to organize within categories, because it's not obvious to me (like ROYGBIV) and leaves the closet still looking visually cluttered to me.

What I do with the cleaning hangers are, I bring my cloth with my own hanger and ask them kindly to hang my cloth back on my own. Win win :) I have never had an issue, like it was lost or broken though.

I think that the Dyson would be fine in the bathroom - it's a hairdryer/hair product - they're normally used in a bathroom so I think the makers of it would ensure that it works fine in there?

Maybe she needs some heavy duty wood hangers for the coats?
@halfheartdead7149
@halfheartdead7149 Жыл бұрын
i don't think the double hangers for coats will be maintained. if eunice breaking hangers is a concern, the velvet ones was a questionable choice in a more full closet (have to use more effort to pull clothes out) and for heavier items like coats and sweaters. she does seem to have more stuff than she can manage, like how she brought back more clothes from the other apartment. it's understandable because these are good pieces and having variety is nice (and important if your job requires it) but if your stuff keeps you from being able to fully use and enjoy your space that's frustrating.

I'm not quite finished the video yet, but I really hope you set Eunice up with a donate spot in both her wardrobe and her beauty room. Then she can let go of things more easily when she first notices she doesn't want to use it. Regular decluttering is the only way she won't keep outgrowing her spaces. 🙂

Honestly, I can't think about luxury when I see a person is letting their clothing on the floor... It seems like she doesn't give value to her belongings. I consider way more luxury a smaller, well organised wardrobe.

The closet looks fantastic and you put so much work into this, BUT there is only a very slight chance it will stay this way for even a week. You used the word chaotic, and it feels almost like that is what she is comfortable with. She is such a sweet person, but organizing is not her path in life!

She has a creative, free personality. It’s okay that she can’t keep this up. She just needs to ask for help. Maybe a weekly cleaning service that includes laundry. Everything is labeled so the worker will know where to put things away. This is what celebs do. She’s a lifestyle content creator, we can’t compare her needs to ours.
