He went to good schools and was a successful federal prosecutor before entering private practice, but he certainly doesn’t look too sharp here. It may have to do with being brought onto the case late, playing catch-up, and having a very difficult client that doesn’t like being told what to do.

:16 when will lawyers realize that pageantry and acting pompous does not get you very far in front of the jury? Also, don’t tell the jurors what their job is because again, you don’t need to tell the, their role or job- that’s the judge’s job which she did, so they don’t need you to repeat what the judge just told them to do as your closing arguments, it kinda runs thin and then to top it off, he says,”where is the evidence?” Acting like the other side did not show proper evidence which they obviously did during the trial. This layer has much to be desired. Reaching for straws here.

Murder should be neither private, nor an event. depends on the country, technically it's not a ludicrous statement. if children in let's say, Finland, murder an adult, the court can indeed be in secret from the audience. depends on the circumstances the murder was made. a judge decides on that. different countries, different philosophies on secrecy. some use it far more than others when things are related to children. naturally, it can be controversial and makes rumors abound.

If you're talking about juveniles committing crimes and the courts being closed to public scrutiny that's one thing. To say that there was "intense interest" in Sandy Hook when it happened, is not a truthful description. There was overwhelming horror and into intense grief, grief that still haunts many of us who don't know the parents and didn't know the children. Just listening again to Jesse's father talk about holding him in his arms with a bullet hole in his head. Even writing this brings tears to my eyes a decade later. If you are a visual person you will see that image in your mind's eye. That's what I see and it's devastating.

This! While the horror would have receded if "The Short Brutish One" had not been so continuously crass and brutish, we should not forget the reality of the victims pain. We are all victims when this happens if we have an iota of compassion and empathy. If not then, when?

@j - k that's Alex Jones FANS. Alex Jones NERDS are people who listen to the Podcasts Knowledge Fight and Opening Arguments and have been following this case through those guys coverage of it. If they are unaware, Law and Crime nerds might ESPECIALLY be interested in the series of Knowledge Fight episodes where they directly cover the depositions related to both this case and the one in Connecticut. Most of those episodes are called "Formulaic Objections" (it can be useful to have a search term because KF has produced over 700 episodes covering Alex and occasionally the larger Infowars/conspiracy/right-wing grifter universe) and some of them feature the plaintiffs attorneys talking about their legal strategy during the depositions (one of the hosts of Knowledge Fight was engaged by the plaintiffs as an expert because he's likely watched more Alex Jones than anyone on the planet and he sat in on the Alex Jones deposition). The episode where Daria, who was on the stand earlier in this trial, arrives at deposition as the officially designated corporate representative and one of the documents she brings is a print off of the Wikipedia page for "False Flag" is a particularly good moment

“Big” is a relative word. Does Jones get ANY kind of mainstream outreach? No, not really. But he certainly does have millions of viewers. The numbers are murky now because he has his own platform, but the last time we had real numbers he was as high as like 10 million listeners and viewers. That’s about 4-20x more than just about all other major news network show. But he was doing that with 50-100 employees. So was he “big” compared to empires like Fox News, CNN, MSNBC who employ thousands of employees? Not by size, not even close. So it just comes down to what “big” is. Alex Jones’ reach is still far and wide, probably more than any major network show outside of Tucker Carlson. But his company size when it comes to employees and net worth it is really small.

Apparently ONE TEXT MESSAGE from Paul Joseph Watson that they say AJ tried to hide from them (even though they have it) that only referenced Sandy Hook in regards to a completely different topic. It was so silly I couldn't believe all the people here thinking it was proof he perjured himself. The content of that text wasn't even about Sandy Hook, but because the words "Sandy Hook" were in it, that's the Perry Mason moment I guess. These people are out for blood and they've sucked the parents into this mess.

Even a first year lawyer knows to take your hand out of your pockets when addressing the jury ( or any other time). This lawyer spoke SLOWLY because he had nothing he could say to show that Jones was not a scumbag, so he dragged out every useless detail to fill up one hour of time, otherwise his presentation would have been 15 minutes long at most.

This incompetent, preening, lying lawyer (who gave opposing counsel the finger, and flushed his client's case down the toilet by accidentally sending all the client's texts for the last 2 years to opposing counsel, and then failing to claim that info as privileged when he had the chance) has just delivered an extremely weak closing argument. Yeah I don't think you actually know what's going on here bud. It's a civil case to determine damages, brought by the tormented parents of one of the poor shot kids. Alex Jones didn't provide his material when asked, for four years, so is found liable pre-trial because he didn't enter a defense which is the same as admitting culpability in the eyes of the law. This trial is to find a dollar amount for damages to the parent.
