really cool. My gut reaction as a dinghy sailor is to lament the energy you're losing because of the textured surface on the water but I guess for yall it doesn't really matter lol

Haha that would be the case if this step wasn’t followed by evening out the edges of the cloth, fiberglass lamination, hot coat, and a final sand! That should solve that issue? 🤓

I'm likin' the beveled rails.

Thank you! Unfortunately it made it really hard to engage the rails. Lesson learned 😅

@@paulzeye_surfboards What you learned is very useful to hydrofoil board design. You want that bevel for the exact same reason you don't want it on a surfboard.

@@powerlooper9121 😮 that’s a cool bit of information! I guess I. Had to learn it the hard way. Any way you think I can salvage this board into a more rideable one? I had a thought to glass in a longer single fin to make it ride more like a longboard.

@@paulzeye_surfboards I build my prototype boards (patented) out of epoxy. They are not pretty, but it is easy to do design modifications.

@@paulzeye_surfboards You might want to add edges to your bottom, from the midpoint to the tail. You can do this in the hot coat - add a bit of Cabosil(sp?) to make some paste, and that way you can put a slight double-concave running from the midpoint to the tail. That will provide lift, and give the rail some bite - go from displacement mode to a planing mode.
