I love that you seek knowledge through books when you're anxious!! All your book choices kind of reflected how you were feeling throughout the year. I read 14 books last year and was a pretty good year. My goal is 25 books this year!!

my goal this past year was to read 12 books and i ended up reading 53 which was insane… but i also did cut out television so i guess it makes sense. crying in h mart was one of my top books in 2021, it really stuck with me and listening to michelle’s music is a much more powerful experience now knowing her story. some other books i loved this year were educated by tara westover, song of achilles by madeline miller, little fires everywhere by celeste ng, and pachinko by lee minjin… all SOOO good.

i love your book videos! now all these parenting books are on my 'to be read' list even though i'm nowhere near getting married, much less becoming a parent (for myself, i'd like marriage before baby) but excited to try these parenting/baby books because babies/humans are super cool and the fact we women can like make life is beyond awe-inspiring.

I have tried three books by Colleen Hoover because her books always got good reviews and Goodreads awards, but they were never my cup of tea. I also read one of Louise Hay's books in 2021, "Experience Your Good Now". I used to listen to the audio version on KZbin many times but never reached to the end. Her soothing and calming voice just put me to sleep before I could finish. Thanks for the reviews, Jenn. "Big Magic" has been on my list for so many years too and I definitely should read it soon.

JENN. I just downloaded Storyworthy last night. I’m on chapter 3 now, and I can already tell that this is the book I’ve been needing and looking for over the last 5 years. I’m a writer, but I also struggle with feeling like the main character in my own life. Lots of my childhood has been blocked out, and I’m on a mission to uncover it! As soon as I started my Homework for Life page, memories just started pouring out. The part about the dad, dog, and underwear in the rain was the brick I was longing to be hit with. I’ll be reading for the rest of the weekend. Thanks so much for sharing and for such a convincing review!

I feel like you would like the memoir When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. Kalanithi had stage four long cancer as I remember correctly and he wrote about his life and struggles dealing with it. He passed away before the book got released. The book really affected me.

Thank you for your book recommendations. You summarise each book so well. I now have to motivate myself to get back into reading. I was very lazy last year & had trouble finding motivation to read that I was only able to get halfway through a book (half read, half on audible). Hopefully this year, I am able to get through some of the book that I had bought last year.

I'm a huge Agatha Christie fan, but I'd have to say And Then There Were None is her most overhyped book. It just hasn't aged well. I'd recommend The Murder of Roger Ackroyd as her best, or The Murder on the Orient Express, which does actually live up to its hype!

R u kidding! 'And then there were non' is a CLASSIC, so it just will never age. Everyone has different tastes of course so I respect that but I'm genuinely surprised because this book is one that I never heard anyone dislike.
@nemene
@nemene 3 жыл бұрын
@@Swiftie3forever It's certainly a classic, but I think it's a case of the thing that started a trope looking less polished in comparison to the stories that came after. Also for me personally - no spoilers - I found the ending pretty disappointing. It felt like an interesting setup with a payoff that didn't deliver, especially in comparison to her other works.

Jenn's book recs and reviews are always the best! Personally, "It Ends With Us" is way hyped up but there are some good underrated books of CoHo. Jenn, I would recommend you to read Colleen Hoover's "All Your Perfects", it's my favourite among her books and would like to hear your review on it! "Verity" is also a good read, it's kind of a psychology thriller so please give it a shot to those two books.
