Hopefully this service isn't limited to businesses/business use only. As a standard consumer, I'd absolutely pay for a subscription to have a personal cloud PC. It's a no-brainer, especially since I could just connect to it with a non-Windows tablet. All the benefits of powerful hardware without the laptop-like sacrifice of battery life. It'd be great for school!

I was really skeptical of this, but after watching I could see how my company could really use this for our remote sales force. It could probably really help with network segmentation and reduce fishing attacks and ransom ware too. I’m more interested in finally being able to completely switch to Linux and run the two Windows programs that I really need that won’t run on Linux. I wonder how much the lowest spec Win365 vm will cost.

I actually envisioned Windows 365 many years ago, but my concern was always the network. If 5G has been looking for a killer app, this is it. Absolutely brilliant, will certainly be raising this in our next budget meeting for implementation. The cost savings on not having to upgrade hardware on user Laptops/PCs at intervals will certainly be a solid business case to move to this model. Any recommendations on adding some type of Azure storage to a group of Windows365 desktops? The goal is to use Azure AD Join and no fileserver. Like a small office where everyone needs to access a shared QuickBooks company file, one of the Win365 desktops will be the admin with the QB Database Manager running and the other will just need access to the company file. So far, I have created an Azure Storage account, a share and connected to it on the Win365 desktops with PowerShell. The problem seems to be latency. Unlike our experience with AVD and a files server, the storage is too slow. Thoughts or suggestions?

You would use software distribution tools like Intune, Configuration Manager or others, like you would for local installs. GPO or scripting another option for bulk automation. Since these are user persistent VMs, you normally wouldn't roll out apps with image updates, but that is also possible if your policies enforce off-disk file storage.

Will there be a Surface Cloud" of "Surface for Cloud" (not unlike Chrome laptops) with only the Edge browser to access Cloud PC so businesses, schools, etc derive value from not having to redundantly procure a ful PC with a local/full OS only to pay for licenses to access another OS in the cloud (Cloud PC)?

Does it replace Azure? How does it connect into internal business apps?
@MSFTMechanics
@MSFTMechanics 3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't replace Azure. You actually use Azure networking to establish a network connection to access your internal business apps, intranet or file servers. We explain this in the video.

Not every business will hire a bunch of engineers to create environments and resource groups for them, no? Also, giving a secure RDP access through a custom port as well as a VPN would be hard on a non windows professional/enterprise subscription.

Im curious on if this is released for Consumer segment, how is Microsoft gonna draw a line between personal data on Machine and data stored on Microsoft Cloud ? At the end, Privacy is Paramount.

Assuming the different PC's have different licence costs, If a PC is resized how would a CSP partner track that to ensure we are charging the customer the correct amount for the types of PC they have if they choose to resize it themselves without telling us?
@joydeepmukherjee7736
@joydeepmukherjee7736 3 жыл бұрын
Great Question! At launch, the resize function will utilize only those Licenses that have already been bought for the tenant and not yet assigned [ this will be fully clarified once we release full details of pricing model on 8/1] ; that said, we will continue to learn and build back features into the service as needed so please try it out and tell us what you think, starting 8/1 ! stay connected with details at www.microsoft.com/windows365
