Well that's the thing. The NX seems like it's going to skip a generation and finally outpower the other companies' systems. Also, Nintendo has actually always been leading the other two companies in terms of stuff like controllers, as well as gaming in general. For example, Wii controllers/motion controls, 4 buttons on one side of a controller with shoulder buttons, etc etc, Smash Bros! A lot of stuff. And when you think about it, aside from PS2's massive success and call of duty, in terms of mass appeal who beats out Nintendo?

What I don't understand at all was the fact that some people weren't excited for Cloud AT ALL. Then, they complain that the new character wasn't Shovel Knight or Shantae. At this point, I don't know about any of y'all, but I'm SICK AND TIRED of people constantly whining about Shovel Knight and Shantae in Smash. The third party roster is essentially a gaming hall of fame and consists of characters who's games had an immense impact and will forever be known in gaming history. Sonic: Despite the fact that he's basically an honorary Nintendo character nowadays, Sonic will always be seen by millions of people as the rival to Mario and Nintendo. Oh and his series is one of the most iconic and successful in gaming. Mega Man: He had a huge influence on the NES's sales and his series is iconic and helped to influence the platforming genre. Pac-Man: He originates from what is arguably the most famous video game ever. Enough said. Ryu: Street Fighter spawned the fighting genre and, considering Smash is a fighter, it makes sense for the daddy of fighting games to have representation. Cloud: Final Fantasy VII singlehandedly pulled JRPGs into the mainstream and is considered by many to be one of the greatest games ever. Have Shovel Knight and Shantae done anything like this? No they haven't. I'm not trying to hate on the characters. Just, if you analyze why a third party character gets into Smash, they are miles away from meeting the criteria.

After all... Nintendo never said that you COULDN'T suggest either of them. 2.) Of course, they are NOT a guaranteed and that much I understood and despite how I feel, it won't change that. The 3rd party characters in question in this game DID indeed leave some sort of huge impact in the video game industry. You've mentioned just that with Ryu, MegaMan, and so on. 3.) It's just that... what happens if Shovel Knight or Shantae actually gets into Smash (I'm not saying that this WILL happen)? I think I'm trying to say that... if Sakurai just so HAPPENED to make an exception this one time... is there anything we can honestly do about it besides whine and get super pissed all day? Yes, I understand 100% that Shantae isn't as iconic as Pac-Man, MegaMan, and so on but to be fair... not TOO many characters in this game really ARE that iconic (even some that are first party). 4.) I dunno. I'm in 100% agreement with you. As someone who supported the whole #Shantae4Smash thing since early April, I have no real issue with what you're saying at all. But you must understand that there ARE people who want to see this happen and it's probably for the best if they deal with the disappointment themselves. Do I want Shantae in Smash? Yes. Will it happen? Sakurai will be the one who decides and if he does not agree with the idea of Shantae (or Shovel Knight) in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3Ds, then he will not add them no matter HOW badly she's desired. It's highly likely that he ain't makin' exceptions for those two particular indie characters. 5.) I won't lose sleep over that. I like a good conversation about a character's potential for Smash. Even if a character's unlikely, I don't think it'll stop people from dreaming. Perhaps it IS only in the dreams that Shantae or Shovel Knight will be in an official Super Smash Bros. game. There's no denying that there is... QUITE the audience for them. Heck, new fans of Shantae and Shovel Knight have emerged during the Smash Ballot's run. If you think about it, outside of all the bullshit drama that spawned from this, I think the Smash Ballot IN A WAY is a brilliant idea. Ya notice the time and dedication people had when it came to like video discussions and so on? I LOVED that. Because... even if it was a character I didn't care about, I felt the passion. And heck, a lot of the "popular" characters got more of an audience just from this Ballot alone. 6.) I could NEVER thank Satoru Iwata enough for granting US this chance... to suggest characters for Super Smash Bros. I just wish that I didn't have to hate the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot as time went on. As I've said before: "I don't hate the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot for what it IS but rather for what it has BECOME". 7.) I know you aren't hating on Shantae and Shovel Knight. In fact, I wish I saw more comments like yours, ya know? Someone who can point out the flaws of characters like Shantae but aren't just an asshole about it. You've left honest thoughts about this whole thing and I'm thankful for that.

Square Enix, the company that owns Cloud Strife, hasn't really had any association with Nintendo with the exception of a few Nintendo games on handhelds and the SNES. Plus, they helped make Super Mario RPG, Legend of the Seven Stars. Sakurai must of signed tons upon tons of paperwork in order to use Cloud Strife. He really is impressing me. Final Fantasy is a huge series that originated with Nintendo, Sonic is Sonic, Snake started out on NES, Pac is Pac, Mega Man is one of Nintendo systems' best consistent titles over the years (thanks Capcom!), Monolith Soft helped with the game (sparking Shulk's inclusion), but there's no reason to go to the effort of adding Sora (for Nintendo) with all the issues that would come with it

Well I think Cloud will be slightly slower while attacking, and I still think Shulk will have more range. His Limit Break ability seems to be his equivalent of Monado Art switching. I'll be covering him on my channel once he's released, and analyze him to no end. I'm a Shulk main and I'll be able to see if he's a clone or not. I think it will be akin to Fox and Falco. They're similar but they're different enough to be separate characters, especially in this Smash game.

Seems like Cloud is going to be to Ike, what Ganondorf is to Captain Falcon. Not just a simple re-skin by any means, but they're going to share some similar attacks. Their final smash already look the same. Cloud seems to have the better recovery and a projectile.. Also, this probably means Sephiroth is going to be a boss/miniboss now lol. He'd be too damn good as a playable character~
