The shots from the wing tip while in the clouds, and then when you break out - love it. I honestly really liked the part where you showed real time detail of you switching tanks and showing the fuel plan. That is the kind of stuff I like to see - learning the seemingly small details of how to fly each airplane. Cool stuff!

Ahhh what a close call. I flew in to Ceduna from Adelaide on the 30th August. You got out of there at the right time! The squalls on approach were a real handful. I didn't fly again until the 21st September which was ironically a Perth return service to Shark Bay and Carnarvon. (We appreciate the kind words!)

Stefan, I love the part when my wife and I go on holiday, depart Manchester MAN EGCC and climb thru the clouds and come out to Blue Sky. But sure can’t beat flying with you, my reaction as you broke thru the cloud was, “Wow” for me pilots have the best Office to work in. I was impressed with how well Milkshake was just sitting there, your videos are both educational in respect of aviation but fun as well. Will be waiting for next flight 👍✈️

Only 1 month after your trip, if your publish date is anything to go by. We stopped at Kalgoorlie on the way back home. Would love to do it from the air though. Enjoying your videos, only a recent subscriber after seeing your videos from Avalon Airshow 2019, I hope you make it to the RAAF 100th anniversary in 2021, I'll be there as a volunteer on the barricading team :) So if you bring along your new plane PLEASE let us all know, I'll make sure we look after it for you :) Keep the videos coming!

The claypan to the right of your approach was the old airstrip. I have flown in and out of that one a few times. My Brother-in-Law and sister were the Airport Managers/Refuelers there from its opening until they retired about 15 years ago. I'm not sure when the refueling services stopped, probably when my Brother-in-Law retired as there was no-one else able to (or wanting to) do it.

Hey Stefan, Have you considered doing a Flight instructor rating, even just to do it as a side job to your usual day to day work. Hope you're enjoying your time in WA mate - enjoy Broome and what is to come further North of that! The Kimberley is genuinely is one of the more special and untouched wilderness left in the world. Don't know how much time you have got in Broome, but if you're up for a "cultural experience," go for a tour of Willie Creek Pearl Farm. Its a quarter day type thing, where they will show you the whole process of Pearl Farming, teach you about the history of the industry in Broome (it was a cultural melting put back in the day!), and on their tour boat when they take you to the pearl nets, you might even be lucky enough to see their resident chompy who chills around in the river mouth!

Hey Stef, loved how you had KJN tired up to that little bush in Kalgoorlie! Those must be some tough bushes 😆! Question do you use a timer or some type of alarm to remind you to change tanks or to remind you for TOD? I'm afraid I'd forget or run past time and be scrambling to catch up...
@RoverEins5 жыл бұрын
My ToD calculation is just the same with only caveat being I go one step further ie. If the aircraft travels with a G.S. of ~3 nM/min. Multiply the 18-20min. descent time by 3 and cross reference the position on a map with the ground. If visual, of-course.

Perth and the South West have had poor VFR weather for the last few months. It's extremely green there at the moment, Certainly no drought going on there. I was there two weeks ago and plenty of standing water. Not very surprising that you didn't get into Jandakot. I'm sure the Bunbury flying school have been feeling the pinch.

10,000 ft isn't much difference from commercial airplane cabins, which are pressurized between 6k and 8k. I know some people that get headaches, but if you're used to higher altitudes, you prob wouldn't even notice.

Hi Stefan, how do you go with the planning with the gallon and litre conversions? Loving the videos mate
@StefanDrury6 жыл бұрын
If I’m making fuel calculations in the aircraft I’ll use gallons, because that’s what the avionics gives me. And if I need to convert to litres it’s a simple x 3.8 to change units. For flight planning fuel calcs, I’ll generally use litres as that’s what the fuel trucks / pumps are measured in.
@Boeing_Luke6 жыл бұрын
Is there a possibility of the avionics in Jules to be converted to litres? Just wanted to say as well, as a pilot I’ve learnt a lot from your videos. Your fuel management system that you displayed in episode 2 of your wa trip has been very useful.
