It’s actually really sad that things had got to this point for the woman, the sole carer for her disabled adult son. Her daughter had legal problems that were also adding to her worries. She couldn’t take it anymore and told people she was going to the police station to commit suicide by cop, and nobody did anything, they just told her to sleep on it and see how she feels in the morning. She shouldn’t have involved other people in her suicide attempt, but carers without any respite often suffer from burnout and chronic depression. Not an excuse for what she did, but it certainly explains why she was at the end of her rope.

There is O excuse to bring other people into your suicidal episode. I don’t care how bad her personal life is, there is always a way out and plenty of help for people who just use a little thing called google. ...could we face the truth here Julie?...a large amount of this nation's mental health woes is due to alcohol, drugs, etc., etc., etc., usage. Which for the most part always starts with recreational use. And as these stupid states keep legalizing crap, more and more feel freedom to use regardless of the harm or stupidity. Far too often (people who are under extreme pressures from life) never seek real help (from counseling or help to carry their load) they primarily turn to a ciggie, a bottle, a joint, or pills, or powder. Sad, 😢 sad, 😢 sad 😢, but that is exactly the way it is 😮

I know someone who unfortunately was on duty and involved in a suicide by cop case. On top of the loss of someone who was suffering so greatly, it was absolutely devastating and destroyed the lives of all 5 officers involved... just within those few minutes. People often forget that a single incident like this (whether the person survived or not) can easily create a tightly woven cycle and chain reaction of mental health crises, for everyone involved. One officer has severe survivors guilt, PTSD, depression, and anxiety to the point of attempting their own life on numerous occasions - requiring him to leave the job and was unable to work any job for many years. A second officer fell deep into addiction after the incident - eventually losing his family, home, vehicles, job, dogs, and ability to function in the aftermath. A third, entirely quit the job, left behind everyone they once knew, and had to reinvent themselves - their dream had always been to be on the police force and work closely in their community (they credit getting out of a dangerous lifestyle when they were a teen, to someone in their community.) Another suffers with PTSD and other mental health issues, but was able to remain on the job for a couple years until he retired - he's never been the same and all of his relationships have suffered since. The last person that was involved... well he's pretty much turned into a terrible person and frankly a danger to any community he works in - I'll just leave it at that. I'm so glad that everyone in this case survived and had minimum physical injuries. I hope everyone is receiving the help they need, though

All that from one person's selfishness. My sister is a train driver, and she hit a suicide who just walked in front of the vehicle, splat no chance... appare tly, UK train dri ers can expect on average to hit a suice every 10 years or so... she started as a driver on Manchester, England's light rail system, one guy was acting stupid drunk running alongside the tram wavi g to his mates...yep, its Christmastime, cold, he slips, leg goes under and comes off.. always around Christmas for some teason, hmmmmm... anyway, she and others help stop the poor sod from bleeding out, so at least no fatality that time. She was upset for a little while, but the train/tram systems has policies for that sort of thing and they helped her through these. She drank a bit for a while with the suicide but quit and got back to life. Apparently, many drivers dont manage to go through that a second time without retiring/quitting, and there are policies in place for that, too. I hit someone with my motorcycle once she just walked out on green lights whack we were both alright, no idea how I stayed on the bike, but, whew, 20 years ago i can still remember it as clear as a new memory.

I'm a C6 Incomplete Quadriplegic and from 2013-2015 dealing with MRSA, having been homeless, anxiety, depression, malnourished (still am) I wanted help - sought help and for various reasons wasn't getting it. I started hallucinating and hearing things and eventually saught suicide and even thought of homicide and ended up in the psych ward at Lincoln hospital. By all means to those around me I was normal and fine, raising my Son, helping and doing for others but absolutely losing my fucking mind, couldn't sleep, eat and was just miserable. So I really want to get healthy so I can really live! I don't have the answer yet, but I believe depression stems from a deficiency of vitamins and minerals, the reason I believe that is I used to be in worse and pretty scary situations and shrugged them off, I am talking about 15 years ago or so, but just watching others in my family as well gives me this reasoning. Please look after yourself and I truly hope you are better, peace.❤

I just want to mention this on a relevant video, PSA about schizophrenia. I am schizophrenic. It hurts, it destroys me, and it debilitates me. HOWEVER. I take all of my medication as prescribed and have never assaulted or hurt another in a criminal manner. I may have said hurtful things, but I have NEVER raised a fist against another in anger. So while I may say #notallschizophrenics , it's really just not as easy as that. Anyone suffering from schizophrenia, schizoaffective, or schizotypal, please understand that your medication will make it so that these types of insane situations DON'T happen. It's really THAT important. If I can do it, I believe you can too. Schizophrenia is not a death sentence, there are good medications and ways of thinking that will benefit you greatly. And please, always know that the world is better with you in it, and don't feel discouraged. If you can't *feel* happy, maybe you can volunteer at a homeless shelter, and see the smiles it brings. We absolutely need universal healthcare in this country. "If you are experiencing issues just go get some help" is unattainable to many, probably including this person in the video.

My country lacks so many resources, we're a poor nation but the free Healthcare is a godsend. You can pay for private care or national insurance care or public health care centers or even free clinics from the university hospitals. It's the best!

Actually if you're low income, there are usually State level agencies that will help you get help. Whether it is medical or psychological in nature.

When I first watched that video, I thought about how bullets ricochet off some objects. You would think bulletproof glass would do the same, and bullets would fly all over the place. The cop shooting back, not knowing it would have sprayed back, could also be a danger to fellow cops. Get to know your own house, don't shoot, and ask some questions later.😮😮😮

I am from Hartford CT and very Familiar with Bristol, CT. This truly breaks my heart. I have some mental health issues and Connecticut doesn't help you. I had to leave that state to get help. It's sad as Connecticut is my birth state but had I not left for help I'd be dead. In fact I was in Bristol hspt for help and all they did was drug me. I pray this lady finds the help she needed like I found my help from another state.

The first gunshot was at 3:52, you can see the impact on the glass of the door and also the dust from where (i suspect) the bullet ricocheted into the ceiling, falling past the gray wall on the left.

I have a funny story about going to the police station. My ex-husband was a carpet grazing drunk, in the military. I found a bunch of ammunition and explosives in my coat closet. After fleeing my home and living with friends, I went back to get some of my things... including emptying every bottle I ran across. I looked for something large enough to hold the ordinance in my home. It was a pink striped backpack. I had a doctor appointment, then going downtown Des Moines. At the time I was 25 years old and downtown was a difficult drive, but I managed. It was a beautiful autumn day, about 70° , but I was sweating like I'd ran to Des Moines. I went to the wrong building first. Then had to walk a block and a half with this backpack clutched in my hands. There was a row of squad cars with prisoners and each one was catcalling at me. I kept thinking, if they only knew what I was carrying. I finally got inside. Danged if there wasn't people waiting. I let everyone go first. I had visions of the police swarming me with bomb gear on. I was shaking, sweating and trying not to cry. In the meantime, I didn't have much change for the parking meter! I was so concerned about that danged meter. Finally, it was me and a federal marshall. I asked the lady behind the glass if they had change for the meter, or if I could just give her the money. She finally asked me what my business was. I told her I would rather not talk through the glass as I didn't want her to get the wrong idea. So she went to get an officer. He talked through the glass, and I said I didn't want to yell though the glass... I just wanted to give them something. So, another officer comes. He finally walks out in the lobby. I told him I had something in the backpack I wanted to give him, so they can deal with it. I told him 3 times that I didn't want him to think I was threatening anyone, just giving them something because the contents were taken from someone who had a serious drinking problem. So, I finally gave this guy the bag, he started to open it, closed it quickly and asked if it would bite him... I said no, just don't drop it and do you have change for the meter. Finally, he looks inside, calmly closed it, and walked behind the glass. Then he yelled "I got explosives here!!!" I thought for sure I was going to be eating linoleum any second. Apparently, I emptied the building 😊. Then, a different officer comes out. I asked, shaking and trying hard not to cry "am I going to be arrested?" There's a bunch of guys on the other side of the glass in bomb squad outfits! I told him I didn't want to give him my name because I didn't want anyone in trouble, just safe. I asked him for money for the meter. He gave me a quarter. I was so relieved. He let me go feed the meter, and I walked back. I kept feeling like there were a million people watching me. I got back in. Then the guy came back out, asked a few questions, leave, and return. Every time he knew a little more about me. I kept thinking that was odd. Finally, after an hour, he let me know what they were going to do with the bag, and thanked me. Bare in mind, he called me by my first name after the first time leaving me. I thought that was odd, I hadn't told him my name. By the time I left, he told me they would send the ordinance back to the Fort and detonate the contents. I never told them that's where it came from and thought it odd, my soon to be ex was a sergeant there...who I was protecting. I asked if anyone would get in trouble, he assured me no one would...and I did the right thing taking it away from (husband's first name)... because of his drinking problem. I kept thinking "Where's this guy getting this from?" Then I walked back to my car. I had that feeling that I was being stared at again. I looked over my shoulder and about 50 cops were outside, staring then making it look like they were busy. I was waiting for the unwanted catcalling. Silence. It took me 6 months, and my attorney telling me, they let me feed the meter to run my plate! Am I stupid or what?! I never got into trouble, but my husband had, many times, drunk. I wouldn't let my attorney use that in Court for my divorce. 😂😂😂 Young and naive 😂

I also just wanted to say that the first shot was actually before the one Bruce called the first. Her first shot was at the door at 3:50 then she fired 2 more shots into the window immediately next to the door and one into the second window furthest from the door. This is a great example of how hard it can be to notice little key details like the puff of smoke from a gun muzzle in security cam footage. Amazing video btw love the channel and it was definitely hard to spot so I don't blame ya lol
