As funny as this guy is and as hilarious as Bruce is roasting him, it's very scary that he actually thought it was a good idea to get behind the wheel in his condition. The cops clearly saved someone's life that day by arresting this imbecile.

To be fair to the drunkard, most drunks and alcoholics don't recognise that they are drunk until they are on their knees with a face stuck in the toilet or a trashcan. Even when they are zigzagging, they'd still say "I'm not drunk, I'm fine". Which is why there needs to be an advanced plan and at least one friend that will stop you from getting behind the wheel after drinking.

@@annak8755 My experience with certain drunks, mainly the ones that are naturally stubborn, egotistical and lacks self awareness like this guy, it wouldn't matter if there was one friend or several, he or she's going to drive that vehicle no matter what. Nothing short of an aggressive physical restraint, as demonstrated at the end by the cops with this individual, would be able to stop them and that is what's so dangerous about these people.

There's a few out there, I call them 'superhero cops', because they have the attitude of a superhero from comics (overly positive and upbeat in an otherwise no good situation). That officer was out to save lives that day, not to work out complexes from a lifetime of failures as some other pigs are seen doing. Not every cop is a pig and most definitely not every cop is a superhero cop, just pray you wind up with a honest cop or you'll see who the real thugs in america are.

This made me laugh so hard tho. I imagine special needs adults are probably easier to deal with than super drunk people 😂 I’d say a lot of drunk people I had to deal with when working at tgi Fridays was more akin to a preschool. Especially when fights would break out. So glad I didn’t stay at that job long (I was only 19) and now that I’m in my 30s I don’t even drink at all anymore. Me or my partner. It’s sad to see how normalized alcohol is and how many people have a problem with it they don’t even realize bc it’s made to seem normal to have a drink w every lunch and dinner or after work. Or during work even. Nightcaps. Celebrations. Advertising wants us to think it’s a necessity. Girls night out means drinking. Golf with the boys means drinking. Even Chuck e Cheese serves beer! Why??? It’s a children’s location, why do we need alcohol at a kids spot? Do people hate their lives and kids that much they can’t go one evening without a beer? But most don’t even look at it that way. Anyways. I don’t mind if people wanna drink once in a while but if someone is drinking every single day or 5-7 days, there’s a problem there. There’s a stress or an emptiness or an addiction that needs to be addressed. Unless you’re from Italy where you’re drinking a glass of wine with dinner since you hit double digits lol maybe they can get a pass? 😂

Some people can’t emotionally handle that so making it required is definitely a terrible idea. There’s a reason it’s only required if something happens. If it would be traumatizing to someone you probably don’t want to make them do it as a possible preventative measure. Or someone who has already lost a loved one to that it’s definitely not cool to make them relive possibly/probably the worst day/experience in their life to be able to get a drivers license.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your aunt. It’s an even bigger insult that the guy got only 10 months. My cousin was killed by a drunk driver in 2002 right before his 22nd birthday. The drunk driver was a kid who could afford the right lawyers, and he ended up getting 4 years to serve in HOME CONFINEMENT and he got his license suspended for 10 years. Not only did my aunt and uncle have to deal with the loss of their son, but they had salt rubbed in the wound where the kid who did it got a light sentence. The rest he was at work which was 1/4 mile from his home. Got his wife pregnant and everything during those two years. I had an awful time. Had just gotten out of an abusive relationships and it was at the end of 2001 and I had a small dance studio in an old mining town I had opened in 1991. The depression and the grief and the opioid crisis I got caught up in for self medicating while waiting 6 months for a mental health evaluation. I lost everything I had built from scratch at 21 years old and plus my reputation I had built that 10 years I had my business. Losing everything didn’t help on top of my father’s loss and feeling hopeless. I am one of the lucky ones that did get out and have stayed clean for almost two decades. I often wonder if our health care system was an actual system if I would’ve even got caught up in all that but no sense doing the what for and if only’s at this point. It’s been 22 years this past November since my father’s death and I am back amongst the living again. Took lots of therapy and a great psychiatrist. Instead of a rehab for the 3rd time I decided to do a psych hospital and it was the right choice cause I still credit the referral from there to my current psychiatrist for saving my life. I know I put in the work but still. Then having to actually face all I had been suppressing was a mountain to climb but I made it. I’m safe, loved and still work at controlling my emotions. Don’t dance anymore but I have found others interests. I miss that little dance studio I had built but the building it was in burnt a few years after I closed but it would show up in my dreams at the beginning of my recovery. I found it funny he kept talking about being from Wisconsin. I lived there for 30 years and did DUI assessments. Sadly, Wisconsin at the time had very lax drunk driving laws, which allowed for many repeat offenders. It wasn’t unusual to see folks with four or five prior DUI’s. I heard that since then they have tightened up the laws, but I’m not sure. It’s very true what you said about the number of bars. In parts of Milwaukee it was common to see a bar on four corners in a neighborhood. At every outdoor festival, including the State Fair, beer is easily accessible. In the old breweries, employees were allowed a bucket of beer during their work shifts. Beer is an integral part of Wisconsin culture. The beer cheese soup is to die for!

The short story is, this truly was a ONE TIME mistake. He has since been completely sober since this experience. He does make mention of past field sobriety tests in this video, but he wasn't drinking for any of those, and was let off with a warning for speeding or whatever. He served his probation or whatever, paid his fines, drove with his blow'n'go, and now lives a happy and healthy sober life now

My husband had two buddies who had multiple DUIs by their early 20s. Multiple arrests. Multiple license suspensions then revoked. By their early 40s they drove drunk daily w/o licenses. The ONLY times they were even pulled over anymore was when they went out of county/state. I’m talking positively way way over the limit blood alcohol. Could barely walk or talk yet drove daily. Both died of liver failure as well. I never understood how they got away with it.

Knowing I neither drink nor drug, knowing I was clumsy af, I once begged for a breathalyzer and blood draw roadside when I got stopped. NOPE, not until after being shaky on the tests, which I'd predicted (undiagnosed medical condition, but led to it). "O.O" etoh breath. Obviously broken, cop said, Do the one in the station, get there tightly handcuffed, old lady (me) in back of cruiser. 0.0 three times there. Arresting officer said he STILL believed I was drunk. Not from evidence of any driving infraction. Because there was none, I had just been hesitating, indecisive at a yellow light on a deserted road, then I backed up 2 feet to get behind the line a second before the change to red. And that looked drunk apparently. There's no road law to even call what I did (that I know of). He said "Normal eople just don't do that. They stop at the yellow, or they run it. Nobody sober does what you did". It was 2:30 am, I just couldn't decide, it took months to answer my proposal too.

Lived in central Wisconsin for a year and the rate of drunk driving was absolutely insane. Didn't want to leave the house on a Friday or Saturday night, but you'd see drunk driving regularly on a Tuesday afternoon. The people who I worked with there (wonderful folks, to be clear, and having gone out with them, they didn't drink and drive) seemed completely oblivious to it - it was just a thing that happened. Some guy barfing his guts out at 10 in the morning in the Home Depot parking lot? Huh. Someone weaving down the highway or barely making a turn on a clear, clean road? Wacky.

I am going to show my age here and say this is almost like and old Burns and Allen skit. The cop is George Burns, the straight man. The kid is Gracie Allen. A total airhead. I also happen to know a little about computer programming. I am a woman a was also a “programmer/analyst.” It is hard getting white males to take me seriously. Bruce, you are so on the mark. I unfortunately got a DUI years ago in Florida, and it costed me so much of my life and money. I came to terms with stuff that was going on in my life and stopped using alcohol as a coping mechanism. I got out of that abusive relationship. By far the worst part is that I could have hurt, or worse, another person or myself. My kids wouldn't have a mother, and the reality they would have for the rest of their lives would be that their mother drove drunk. It was the gravest decision I ever made in my life. That being said, it takes no effort to be polite and respectful to the police, which I was. They even told me that I was not a bad person, but I made an irresponsible choice. That fact carried a lot of weight in the favor of my case. I'll never forget my wonderful attorney telling me, after the Plea hearing, that sometimes something good can come out of a bad situation. (I had to edit my post. Sorry Bruce, my attorney was Rick C. , so I put his name first since you are both so awesome).

Ive been arrested a few times multiple years a part. and now 10 years living a clean life and when tey pull up your history they treat you like a dirt bag, almost seems like they want to evoke you to do something illegal in their presence.
