CLUB MED - CANCUN - 1979 - MEXICO - 1970's

HI CLUB MED FANS,
This is a slideshow of our Club Med vacation in Cancun 1979. The first part has brochures from the 1970's & 1980's and the second part shows our pics of the club, G.M.'s and G.O.'s. (Week of June 9 1979).
Club Med was sure fun and Cancun was one of my favorites.
Club Med Cancun is on the Atlantic side of Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula.

The brochure scans are taken from my personal Club Med brochure collection from the 1970's and 1980's. Since there are so few pics of Club Med on the net, I included scans from different years, not just 1979.
99% of the pictures were taken by me (a couple of scenery pics were borrowed off the net and from Frank and John - thank you).
These Club Med videos are meant to be fun - I hope you enjoy the pictures and the music.

What a great surprise. I was the chef de Sport in Cancun during the summer of '79 and many of the GO's in the video were part of my team. I hope that you enjoyed the topless windsurf instructors which was a first for Club Med at the time compliments of me and our beautiful instructors. We all had a great time that summer

We went to Club Med Cancun in Oct 2020. It rained, A LOT. But near the end of the week. Otherwise very enjoyable. It's so interesting to compare the layout from then to today.

omg, I was there in 1979! AND right, no hotels to speak of. I remember we had to "share" showers in that white bdlg. Plus, NO Air conditioning. Very rustic Club Med back then! Water was so beautiful. Poolside, just as I remember it. Thanks for posting.

I was there september 2011, It blows my mind it still is similar to the 70's club med lol. I love that place going back this year!
