I am not surprised that the Box Dimension music experienced so many cases of trial and error. After all, what's a Box Dimension? Even as a Club Penguin superfan, that's kinda hard to explain. "Um it's a rather odd place where everything is either purple or is a box." So kudos to you for a quality song, Chris.

I remember a few years later, when the box dimension wasn´t something new and some sort of easter egg, that was the meeting point for the "cool guys", and the song made it feel like "we are in a dimenssion out of space just to hang out and play card-jitsu" and that's one of the best memories I have on Club Penguin. Minecraft came out in beta in May 2009 and CP commissioned the box dimension theme prior to April 2009, so it couldn’t have been used as an inspiration. Not sure minecraft even had music in beta.

The version 5 theme that ended up in the stair dimension is my favorite piece of music that I ever heard from the game. The stair dimension in and of itself freaked me out in a strange way, but I also loved the juxtaposition of the stairs going every which direction. I'd listen to the theme over and over again whenever I could when I was a kid!

I remember going into the Box Dimension and just sitting there, listening to the looping music, like in some kind of trance.. the endless sea of boxes under a purple sky... When I first heard Mystic Cave (who knows how long after hearing Box Dimension), I knew there was something so familiar about it, but I could never figure it out (aside from the Circus Melody(I forgot what it's actually called)). I can't believe I've just discovered your videos. To this day, I believe that the Box Dimension sparked the "thing" I've had for a long time for alternate universes (the Box Dimension itself, which had me crazy as a kid, the "Xen" dimension from the videogame Half-Life, "Hell" from DOOM, weird dimensions from games I've developed, etc). I even made an EXTRA element for Card-Jitsu that was the "Box" element, with its own edited cards and everything, that could be used to play on my custom Card-Jitsu Fire IRL board that I made and played with friends. I was also designing my own rooms and clothing items for a private server! I also remember how I kept bugging the owner of the server to add all of the extra dimensions, and he did it a couple of days later. Man, Club Penguin was really inspiring for younger me. Hope you can make an episode about Cart Surfer's music someday!

I think you really nailed it with the final version! :D The sonar ping melody over top of it all is very strange and alien and out of this world, but the underlying accompaniment is goofy and familiar enough for the song to remain lighthearted--fitting for an April Fool's event in a children's game. I actually thought attempt 2 was okay, honestly; I think with some more work it could've done alright. Glad to see not all of your prior work went to waste, though, at least version 5 still ended up being used elsewhere.
