Mike is the definition of an Enigma. It was fascinating to see him correcting Bill Maher, the Cornell history major, on questions of human history. And even those things that sounded a little off were correct (Vercingetorix, Cleopatra's questionable beauty, or lack thereof, etc.) Granted, Mike has the occasional speech impediment that affects his pronunciation, but once you decipher what he meant or said, he's spot on. Incredible that he's also the baddest heavyweight to walk the face of the earth.

@bafflezbiz
@bafflezbiz 2 жыл бұрын
@@HH-gv8mx Never judge a book by its cover. And Bill Maher is certainly sharp as a whip and very funny, but his real focus these days is modern politics. He still knew what Mike was referring to but it's interesting that Mike often had the minute details correct, even correcting Bill. Also, Mike said he researched the ancient gladiators, barbarians, warriors, etc. out of personal interest, which will dramatically help with retention. The info may have been fresh in his mind from his studies, whereas Bill is going off his education 40 years ago in college. But he also went to Cornell, which is top 10 worldwide...

@@midsouthautoparts8117 haha, Bill was toasted! But honestly, I bet Bill was surprised at Mike's level of knowledge, wisdom, and thoughtfulness. Especially after the show when he had a chance to do a fact check (or rather, hear the debriefing report from his staff) and find that Mike actually knew what he was talking about! And sure, Mike's a Muslim (just like his idol - Muhammad Ali) so it's easy for Bill to dismiss and make fun and point out how different it is to be an American Muslim in America, protected by the US Constitution... vs a Muslim born and raised in the Middle East. Particularly if you're a woman. (Or worse yet- a man or woman who identifies as the opposite sex). Fortunately, Bill realized that he wasn't going to win any contests if he kept pushing Mike to open up to a new perspective on that subject.

In 34:22 Maher said muslim women's are not happy with covering!! Lol When i was liberal, i Didn't like covering you know all this stuff like burka,hijab, my dad was also a Liberal, but my mother was pious, my mother used to cover Herself when she go out of home. All of my friend mom,sister wearing less clothes but my mom used to cover Herself fully.So when i go out with my mom, people used to stare at her.My friend used to mock me, I Don't like that,One day i got angry and asked mom"Why are you wearing this shit, come on be modern. " My mom said "listen i am a servant of God not Modern world human's, i follow my god instruction not human instruction, Who are these modern people to tell me what to hide or not??Who are these modern people to draw the line what to wear or not?? Why i will follow them? Why i will follow them and dress up like them??Why will i follow them and become their servant?? Why i will listen to their subjective view of clothes? Am i wearing clothe based on their choice or my choice?Their choice is their subjective morality and my choice is objective morality!. I follow what my god said to wear not human I believe if he exist he will give us a law on everything including clothes for a better society, way of life and his law on cloth are perfect, his law is superior than mad made law's.Subjective world view can't solve this imperfect world problem's. I would follow my god and become servant of god rather than becoming servant of Human by following them. It will help me in this world amd also judgement day! At last i have objective morality.. If you think wearing burka or hijab and following god is oppressive then its also oppressive by following human laws on cloth cause they are drawing line what to hide or nor to hide, so there is no choice after all,i have simply follow their rules,but why will follow them not God? Are they superior than God? Thats why choose to follow God not human" After listening to my mom, i was silent for Quite minute, i started to think rationally, i started tl reading philosophical book's, i started to read many book, i had listen both side argument and i judge who is correct. Alhamdulillah(Thank to God[Allah]), I am now a pious Muslim by choice🖤 Also my Aunt always scold my cousin for wearing hijab, My cousin loves to wear hijab by her own... Edit : You are wearing something that's not based on your choice,that is based on your society's choice..

That's why this is my fav podcast Tyson interview...Bill didn't come off as just another fanbot who agreed with everything that Tyson said lol He wasn't intimidated to actually engage with Tyson in a conversation nor was he condescending to him. Bill would question Mike and ask him to explain what he’s talking about; correct him on things he’s wrong on, or agree to disagree etc., instead of just accepting everything he said and moving on like some timid reporter would.

Wow…Impressed with Mike on his knowledge of history. Vercingetorix was the leader of the Gauls when Caesar conquered Gaul. The Gaulish warriors were famous for their garish and frightening tattoos. Mike would have specifically have studied the history of late Roman Republican era. My guess is Mike learned about this from reading Caesars Commentaries or by seeing a documentary or a lecture on the subject. And Mike isn’t the only who has trouble pronouncing Vercingetorix name. He had Bill stumped on that. I think Bill said a few things that were rather condescending to Mike and then Mike starts talking about Republican Roman history and Bill was clueless to what Mike was talking about. Great shot Champ.

It's nice to see Tyson get to flex his intellect and knowledge. So many media outlets both white and black get stuck in his "savage" "baddest on the planet" persona but miss how well read and educated he is. The same drive that made him a king of physicality has also been applied to introspection, history, and religion. It's sad that our culture makes him hide it and act like he doesn't know all this stuff as well as he actually does.
