Really didnt expect him to truly give him props, flowers, and the fact that he was better. The ONLY time he said he could have won, was with his Father coaching him (giving even more Grace to the Mayweather family and Camp), when asked if he could have won during a rematch... without hesitation he immediately said NO! Im not the biggest Oscar fan, but hats off to him for this interview because he really put Flloyd on a pedestal when he could have just tried to drag him through the mud... Great Interview

Floyd bet on himself when he dropped out of high school to focus on boxing and it paid off. Fought his entire career at his walking around weight and beat everyone in front of him. Never failed a drug test, never missed weight, never even got knocked down. Can’t deny his greatness in the ring.

The Philly shell does not work against taller fighters, especially if you are a shorter fighter using the Shirley Philly shell. Mayweather would not be able to fight in the 1980s using that style. Imagine him against the 6 foot one Tommy Hearns shooting right hands and Sugar Ray Leonard was also taller than him and Roberto Duran, who had all the tricks in the world and of course, don’t forget about the vicious Marvin Hagler, who could fight south paw or just regular orthodox style. Any of these boxers could knock you out with either hand.

Floyd’s an all time great. He didn’t get handed his career. He fought tough fights coming up and won all of them. Man is a defensive genius, and people don’t give him enough credit for the fights he stood in the pocket his opponents and schooled them. One thing I hate is when people try to compare fighters like Broner or Devin Haney to Floyd… no there will never be another Floyd.

Coming back in the Mosley fight was such a huge feather in the cap for Floyd man, that was insane that he didn’t only stay up without a count, but that he came back and meticulously took Suga Shane apart. He was also robbed of Mayweather vs Cotto being the REAL fight of the century because Margarito was plastering and Pacquiao was roiding so much he went from being KO’ed by BODY SHOTS at Flyweight and not being Erik Morales to KO’ing everyone at featherweight/light middleweight.

@ejkboxing

Hearns was 22 in his 1st fight with 25 year old Leonard. De la Hoya was 23 when he beat 34 year old Julio Chavez Sr. If you started boxing around 8 years old like most of these guys, 20 is the beginning your prime. One of the biggest fights back then was Leonard age 23 vs Benitez age 21 & Benitez was the champ in that fight. Stop all this BS about 23 years old Canelo being too young & inexperienced as a 44-0 world champion. 36 is an old man in boxing terms. Was Floyd supposed to fight him when he was 40? Floyd was older & smaller than most of those guys. he fought at 147 & 154 lbs. People act like Floyd was 25 years old his entire 20 year career. I'd bet that Floyd has more Hall of Fame fighters on his resume than any other boxer.has.

Great point. What people don't realize is that at the point Floyd fought Canelo, he only had two more professional fights than Canelo (44-0 vs. 42-0). Canelo turned pro @15. Not to mention, he was a unified champion when he fought Floyd. Why fight for belts only to claim you're not ready when real competition comes to you. Be careful when you campaign, you may just get elected. All credit yo Floyd for beating Canelo.

Prime for most humans in fighting not just boxing . Is at 30 plus . Some might make it to there prime at 27 : talking about canelo at 23 he was inexperienced , he was caught up in the fame and the hype . 23 is still a kid for a fighter . That he was a champ at 23 just means he was above his competition but in comment sense not ready for a mayweather experience type of fighter . It was a miss match that canelos team didn’t see coming (inexperience) . But most fighters have their prime past 30 ….

What goes unmentioned is that when he moved to 147 and 154, he fought mostly bigger guys. Yet he never refused to fight them on account of size or imposed rehydration clauses etc. He even moved from 140 to 154 when he fought Oscar. Compare that with Canelo who’s constantly avoided his mandatories if they happened to be top tier competition and insisted on catch weights and rehydration clauses.

At the 2:42 mark, Shannon asked how Floyd would have fared against the 80s greats.. but kept on talking without letting the man answer the question.. Oscar was not able to say anything until the 3-minute 26 second mark.. by that time he had to respond to a different comment of Shannon's.. at the 3:23 mark, Oscar had to remind Shannon of the question that he had originally asked. Sometimes we can ask a good question and then talk ourselves out of it before we give the person an opportunity to respond. Sometimes we simply need to ask the question, be quiet, and let the person respond. It is not necessary to ask the question then tell the person how much we know about the sport..

Ask Hagler & Aaron Pryor about fighters ducking them. Leonard & Hearns ducked Aaron Pryor & he was 2 weight divisions below them. They both ran to higher divisions to avoid Pryor. Also, Oscar & Shane both tried to duck Floyd & he had to chase after them by going up 3 weight classes.

Oscar is a likable person to me regardless of his personal issues. We all have personal issues that we are ashamed of the difference is famous people’s issues get put into the spotlight. I respect him more than Canelo because he at least went into the ring to fight the best opponents. And even though he lost some I respect him. I think Canelo needs to understand that he will be even more highly respected if he just fights the best fighters regardless of the result. But then again every pro athlete has their pride and few things can bring that pride down. Just my opinion.

It’s great that Canelo took the risk and Floyd gave him the opportunity. The fight could have never happened! This was 2013 and in 2015 Floyd retired. The loss was a passing of the torch and Canelo was in a win win situation with earnings and knowing what it’s like to fight THE BEST at such a young age. Back then Canelo hadn’t even formed his man strength. Canelo’s real strength showed at Middleweight or anything other than 152lbs catchweight
