An honest mechanic. Problems occur and are not edited out, really good to see and then come the ideas and solutions. Great video as always, thanks for posting.

My favourite bike of all time the Urban tiger.I first saw them when they were first coming out as a young lad with my dad at the Nec in Birmingham. It was going around on the platform and from that day i knew i had to get one when i was older.I owned one for a few years rode down to Le mans for the moto gp with the lads and loads of other trips great times.Sadly i had to sell it eventually still miss it to this day.

Your channel deserves more views Steve. Love the videos. Also quite humbling how you encounter problems along the way and don’t hide them. God bless mate.

Nice work Steve. EBC say their springs have 15% more tension, in practice it feels more like 50% 😂

You make a very valid point Some of his methods are very debatable to say the least You are obviously a very experienced motorcycle technician

👍My first brand new bike in 1997!...an RRV in yellow/purple....treated meself after a tour in the gulf...paid 7k new, was a parallel import which was a thing for a few years back then 😊

Was it from DK? Back when DK and parallel imports made Honda have fairer pricing for us. Now we are back to being over charged. Why doesn't globalisation give the customer a better price, maybe we could have politicians that make this happen.

@@Google_Does_Evil_Now No I bought from a small independent dealer in Nairn, north east scotland where I was living at the time..not sure where he got it from though.

Ive got a 1999 blade and love watching anyone working on them. Also have a 42 year old Harley Iron head sportster and the clutch removal on that is a bit more hard core 🤣🤣 great post 👍

Nice work. I had same model, CBR900RR-S in red purple/black. Great bike but I don't miss the journey to the heart of the spark plugs! Seat, tank, airbox, coils and that plastic tray thing all out before you get to use plug spanner :( I think these years 94 and 95 were peak 'Blade.

Should all the bolts not be torqued up to a certain level?

Hey mate I had a question about the year model 600 that suits this model best
@JohnDoe-kq1ge5 ай бұрын
The camera was too far away,the spark plugs gap was not checked/adjusted,bolts not torqued to specs and the clutch plates SHOULD be soaked in oil over night.Everything else was nice.Subscribed 👍

Iridium and platinum plugs come pre-gapped with a warning not to try and adjust - you just break the electrode if you try.

Again not a torque wrench in sight,honda give torque settings for a reason steve

The clutch cable wasn't stretched, the adjustment works the opposite way to the way you're thinking, as the clutch wears you wind the adjuster in not out, so if the nuts are at the beginning of the threads it's because the clutch pack is completely unworn ie brand new and the cable is in good condition
@TheGazza6369 күн бұрын
all the adjuster does is take up slack in the cable and nothing else
@GeoffMoulton-q3u9 күн бұрын
@TheGazza636 correct, but as the clutch wears the cable gets tighter not looser, taking up the free play, so you wind the adjuster in not out to restore free play, hence when a clutch pack is new the nuts are at the beginning of the threads not the end, when you set up a new clutch pack you should wind out the handlebar lever cable adjuster a few threads so you have some adjustment available at the lever, then set the free play with the clutch end of the cable adjusters, that way you have easy adjustment available at the handlebar as the clutch pack settles in
@TheGazza6369 күн бұрын
@@GeoffMoulton-q3uagreed winding the adjuster out takes slack only out of the cable
@GeoffMoulton-q3u9 күн бұрын
@@TheGazza636 the point I was trying to make in my first comment is that he was mistaken claiming, the cable is " pretty stretched" due to the nuts being at the end of the threads, ie only just enough thread to get them on, this is incorrect, had he wound out the handlebar adjuster a few turns the nuts would have been slightly further on, and this is the beginning of the adjustment not the end, as previously mentioned you wind the threads in not out to restore free play, as free play is taken up as the clutch pack wears down

I use a magnetic pick up tool to get the plates and steels out, way easier than a pick and wrecking fingernails. Its called lazy

Enjoy your content... having changed way too many Ducati DRY/slipper clutches .. which are just too easy . I became an owner of a '05 Daytona 955i .. which I just love.. but tearing down Triumph WET clutch is a PITA and costs about $28 bucks in gaskets LOL takes a good half hour. The Ducati could be stripped to inner cases in 5 minutes . The Daytona wet clutch is near identical to the CBR 900 arrangement .. Wondering, could the pressure plate spring issue be an issue due to the NEW clutch pack height is not within spec... ? As per my factory and Haynes Triumph service manual, when installing a NEW clutch pack, you might have to play a bit w/ plate thicknesses in order to attain proper clutch pack height. Wondering if the pack was too tall, the springs couldn't grab and release properly. If the stock clutch spring are with spec, which is easy to determine, you can re-use them, same w/ the existing clutch pack height .. even individual friction plates. If the friction pads have meat, fall within spec, might help attain perfect clutch pack height vs an entirely NEW friction plate kit. I always had a few diff metal plates thicknesses available for my Ducati clutches, picked up a few for the Daytona .. GREAT INFO on the judder/wave spring... make sure the it sits dished side out like a cereal bowl. The base of the bowl sitting against the clutch basket .. the dished part, where you pour your cereal facing out. Vernier calipers and a Haynes service manual wins the day...
