Clutch chatter - southbend stage 3 daily - MK7 golf R

Everyone asked, so here is a sound clip of the clutch chatter on the southbend dxd stage 3 daily clutch on my mk7 golf R before the fluidampr install.

You can increase your idle rpm's by like 300 and then you'll get rid of most of the chatter apparently

Stage 3 clutch John Deer edition. In all seriousness though MK7's seem to have extraordinarily loud clutches. Even the OEM unit is the most chattery clutch I have ever experienced.

I put the ECS Stage 2 with the one-piece flywheel (lightened) in my '10 CC and it sounds a lot like that when the clutch pedal is released at idle. It almost sounds like valve-train noise. Thanks for sharing. I thought I was going nutz. Oh, also did the 034 Motorsports rear main (which was the original issue causing the repair). Who designed that stock RMS, anyway? Jeez.

I have a twin disk 6 puck ACT clutch in my srt4 it sounds exactly the same 🙃 it was so alarming at first haha

yup, that sound is exactly like mine. Chatters like a diesel. Mine's a Southbend Stage 3 Daily clutch.

does this chattering sound mean a worn out throw out bearing? is this a sign of improper wear or premature failure? sure it’s a performance part but will it last if I don’t race the car? I’m hearing this sound from a mk7 I’m about to purchase.

I went stage 2 golf r Revo. Clutch slippage. I Installed Sachs organic clutch. Now no slippage at all. Clutch pedal is harder to press but you do get used to it. Still annoying in stop start though. As for chatter. You get a bit. But nothing too bad.

@@ThePedalDance I installed the same in my GTI with a new dual mass flywheel. Was quite surprised to hear the car sound like a distant helicopter from inside. Expected it to remain quiet given that I retained the DMF. Oh well...

so is there no fix to this ?? not even if you would go to a stock clutch kit again ? I am tuned to apr stage 2 and installed a staged 2 clutch from spec and to be honest i cant stand the sound.

Brian0marr Peralta it's the single mass flywheel that makes that chatter, if you find a kit that has a dual mass FW it should be quite

@@t.j.softich2553 I have the RR stage 4 smf and I read it’s recommended to do the bleeder block and clutch assist spring. Just youtube the clutch delay valve and you’ll find it

Seems like you didn't follow the break-in procedure carefully enough? My stage 3 endurance has way less noise than that, and I have very solid engine mounts too.

It's a normal sound ! It's a race clutch ... u can't have quiet and performance, unless u buy a 100,000 k car ! Nice wipe tho

I have the same exact problem I just got my car back from the dealer from doing the clutch fly wheel and throwout bearing they also did the transmission sleeves for the same reason but the car came back the same the dealership told me that it was normal but I do not trust it

Exactly I was thinking it could’ve been what you stated but idk for a chatter to be a normal sound cuz I can literally hear two sounds I hear valves open and close and that that chatter sound it sounds like if you was on 4th going 25 and you’ll usually hear a rattle it sound just like that but even if they say it a “normal” sound why when we search a new 2016 golf r and doesn’t have no chatter and I have golf r that’s 27,000 miles so wtf lmaoo

@@SleepyDubVRT my clutch chatter just as loud as this. but it is supposedly stock. have not met one person who has had chatter with their stock clutch. id say maybe its aftermarket, but pedal feels very stock, and its slipping badly. bought at 24k miles. APR stage 1 at 26k miles. at 30k now and the slip is insane. half throttle in third or higher is slip central.
