This video was very helpful for me. Especially when putting the rebuilt clutch back on the crank shaft. I'm glad you took time to explain that you have to fiddle with the large gear to get the clutch to go all the way on. When the clutch is tightened correctly the nut should be flush with the end of the crank shaft (with the nut retainer and washer in place). Thanks!

Thanks for showing the details. I work on these engines for almost 48 years, but I never opened the clutch. I wonder if the clutch performance can be improved by adding more weight to the parts that react to higher RPM. Maybe next time you can go deeper into the clutch. Once again: Thank you .. good job.

Interesting and amazing how the basic design hasn't changed much from the 70's. 2022 CRF50F looks identical

The person before who positioned the shift arm incorrectly also left out the washer between the clutch basket nut and the tabbed lock washer. That washer is marked "out side" that that writing faces the nut side

Can you do a video on how to adjust a manual clutch for a honda 50/70? Very little info on those.
@mastermoi Жыл бұрын
Hey man got a quick question for you. I bought a z50r few days ago that wouldnt shift. Found out the little arm on the top left side of the clutch side broke off. I changed it and now it goes trough all the gears fine when the engine is not running. With the engine running, first goes in with a massive kick like theres no clutch at all and sencond wont engage until im at a certain speed and it also comes with a kick.. i tried adjusting the clutch but i wouldnt say it changed much... im i right to beleive its clutch related if the gears shift fine with engine off? Im kind of lost... i tried putting lite pressure on the shifting pedal to see if it would feel like im slipping the clutch because thats what my other old semi auto honda quad does but it doesnt
@VintageHondaMinis Жыл бұрын
could be time for clutch rebuild. maybe start with that see if you get improvement as it is easily accessed. If not, probably shift forks, bent or worn etc and time to split case to look around.
@mastermoi Жыл бұрын
@@VintageHondaMinis yeah i think if it was gear related it wouldnt shift as well with the engine not running tho. But i watched your video carefully and dont remember seeing the little cap that goes over the spring on the actuator. Time to investigate. Thanks a lot man veeeerry helpfull videos

Those old plates look like they have some high spots on them ( signs of warping) Have you ever checked them for flatness? If they are warped bad enough it can possibly give you some weird feeling in clutch engagement.
@VintageHondaMinis2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can check for flatness on granite machine block and feeler guages
