I cannot believe how much your motivation and support, and what I have been able to accomplish as a result with my house after years of being unsuccessful doing it on my own, has truly truly utterly transformed my life. Literally my life. Not just my home. Thank you. I’m not sure if you will ever know the extent of what gift you are giving others.

I gave myself this challenge to just get trash out of my office. I was going to just do 10 mins. 3 hours later.... and my 8 yr old told me what a great job and how good it was looking. I had been avoiding that space for 5 years. I just have a few boxes left to sort and taking things to their proper place. @JamieAndrick6 күн бұрын
I like to make it a point, that everytime I'm in an area/room.. I take care of whatever is out of place in the area I'm in.. trash, relocate. For any room I'm in, I take care of something while I'm in that area/room. I noticed that when I keep track of trash, relocate and donate, I feel incredible and want to keep going. Keeping track of everything I dealt with has really helped the depression and the physical pain I was going through. I also noticed the more excited or happy I was about getting our home in order, the less pain I had! 3 days in a row, 95% of the pain was gone! Then we went shopping! When we were checking out, the pain got stronger and by the time we got home, I was in severe pain again! This is proof to me, that clutter is one of the sources of the pain I've been experiencing!

It really is addicting! Tackling my home office today to prep for a pro zoom discovery call and maybe living room after that to impress my hubby. The more I trash bag therapy my house, the more a sense of pride, protection, and fun returns to it. Just spending 20-40 minutes in each room to tidy or clean or trash bag therapy each day helps get through layers from years of their toddler and boxes from our move. It’s manageable and doesn’t eat my whole day and only a week or 2 I am seeing maintainable progress. Phew!!! I see taking care of our home now as part of taking care of myself, like walking the dog. It’s for her but also helps my physique and state of mind. ❤🎉

I'm seeing that it could get addictive to avoid dishes by tossing trash, lol, but trash is still a great choice! Thank you!!!!
@audreyandrea4605 күн бұрын
Doing the dishes is the only thing you need to do every day - it’s the first step to cleaning your house. Trash is the first step to decluttering your house. Cleaning isn’t decluttering, and you need to clean every day. Do the dishes, no matter how you feel, then do trash.

Get it! We had 2 weeks to move. My hubs freaked out and just had the movers pack everything - DON’T do this!!! You will pay WAY too much and spend years (it’s been 2 plus the year in the rental while we sold our old house) going through boxes and expensive storage units looking for stuff you already own but can’t find. The less you bring the better. Consider the new home your fresh start! It will save you so much time and energy later! And stress!

Our local Staples takes recyclable electronics and you get a coupon per item. If nothing written on the front of greeting cards, St Jude's in NV takes the front only. I keep a manilla envelope on the kitchen counter -standing straight up, or in your paperwork station, so card fronts go in there and are sent once full. Hope that helps.

Gamify it - see how many rooms you have to go through to fill up 1 bag or how many bags you can fill up from 1 room, depending. We can usually get at least a bag out of our living room after the weekends. Challenging ourselves or setting a timer and seeing if I can fill a bag in 15 minutes or less. Have family members join the fun and compete with who can fill the bag fastest or who can get the most trash out in the shortest time. The prize could be a healthy treat. Like fruits and veggies presented like a funny face on the plate. With wheat crackers or a charcuterie board lunch - ok that’s for me. With wine. 😂

Trash Bag Therapy is not easy for me. The reason is that I'm more of a Bee and my mother is a Lady Bug. In my childhood ,I would leave important things (to me) in plain sight and she would throw them away without asking. For her, anything that is outside of a drower is subsceptive of being thrown away. So I developed a tendency of hiding things just in case. I'm in my forties and I still do it. Some are trash, some there are not. But there's always a fear of losing something important because it was considered trash. I even do this thing where I fill a bag with trash, and then I hide the bag for a while before throwing it away. Needless to say I have issues.

Yes. Just some of us have so much clutter or distraction we forget to use it.
@audreyandrea4605 күн бұрын
I don’t think that matters if you’re a hoarder or if you have hoarding tendencies caused by things like ADHD. Generally speaking, wastepaper baskets can end up as clutter, themselves. You can have bins in kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms, but not in common rooms or common spaces. Guests who drop in for an hour shouldn’t be making garbage in your home, so you don’t need any bins in the common room for them. Meanwhile your overnight guests will know where to find the bins or baskets. Just because a practice is common doesn’t mean it’s the best practice. If you’re in a common room and you make garbage, you need to train yourself to get up and go to the kitchen to deposit it. But if it’s a lot of garbage, like packaging on a large item, just put it outside in your big bin right away.
@heathereyles89095 күн бұрын

TBH, I think this is one of those neurotypical things. I don't really have that much actual clutter that couldn't be contained with proper bins, it just covers every surface because my wife decides that she needs to help me manage my stuff and throws random bits away and takes everything out, and rearranges it, and since she has more free time than I do, there's no sort of meaningful progress made unless I have all the time necessary to do it at once. I do have some thing that I probably don't need, but the stuff I have clearly all would fit if it were properly put into bins rather than in whatever things I had available to put them in.

I'm not someone who struggles with impulse buying or a shopping addiction, however I am mindful that some viewers do have issues with said behaviours & I wonder if having a person of influence that they look up to for decluttering inspiration recommend products to them during a decluttering video would ultimately help their progress or would the urge to impulse buy in that moment over-ride the desire to declutter, hence perpetuating the cycle that may have led them to Cas in the first place. I mean Cas is free to do whatever she sees fit or most conducive to creating an income as it's her channel. It's just not something that I've ever noticed before in one of her videos.
