Hope this helps rotaryhoes its what I do to get one going again with your's i'd say its a bung coil or timings out
so,"spark" coil 2000 ohms (2 k ohms) to 10,000 ohms (10 k ohms)
"points" coil 2 ohms to 22 ohms
there not exact but a rough guide to what to test for, the automatic points are for lawn mowers available from most mower shops.

I have a mark 10 villiers i found behind the shed. Completely rusted an broken. Everything broken. Anyway going to try your way to fix the no spark problem. I have re wired everything so it doesn't short circut but still no spark. The one i found yeah everything broken. Its taken me about a year on an off stuffing around with it to get it to saveable. If i can get it to spark then it should fire up i think.

Thanks for the video, lots of info in there. Gotta get myself a meter and start taking some readings. I'll let you know how i go. Really given me some directions to go in. Thanks again. Those villiers coils not cheap but can buy from villiersparts. About 70pound but guaranteed for 50 years. Or go onto ebay uk and can pick them up for about 15pound.

It's called a speed brace. The pronunciation of Villiers is vill e yers. Not Vill ers. You will sound more brainy at the shows when you say it right. Keep up the good work.

where did you buy the electric points from?

They are a victa/Briggs part, I used to use atom points but they don't make them now. I ask for auto points at the mower shop

Think they are around 20 bucks, and yeah very just clamp it under a bolt and join the wire from the points on
