So you do whatever it takes to make people tune in. Awesome Ospreay matches and Okada isn't doing it because they come from a place casuals don't watch. Mercedes Mone can't do it on the mic because she is terrible at that. Edge can't as he was boring in Judgement Day and they only got cooler. You have to use ploys and keep people with enticing matchups and a lot of us are refusing to admit the matchups are sometimes worse than the ploys.

There's nothing wrong with looking at something from one side to another but the thing is, it feels Luke only does it for AEW when in WWE, it sometimes feels like he'll just dismiss someone from having a different opinion to his and would never be as defensive to a WWE segment the way he is to an AEW segment. I don't hate Luke, I'm sure he's a nice guy but sometimes he can feel like he's much more softer and defensive with AEW where with WWE, it seems like he always still has a vendetta against them and always finds one negative to point out.

Luke genuinely perplexes me when it comes to some of his wrestling takes. While he states the Punk segment was a bad idea, he then spends two minutes defending it - like saying it was funny, or trying to tie it in to the onscreen story more than AEW did. You’re not gonna see him doing that stuff on a Miz segment he says he doesn’t like (I don’t like the Miz either, it’s just an equivalence). I understand point/counterpoint for the sake of content, but it feels less that he thinks it was a bad segment and more that he secretly liked the segment but knows he can’t acknowledge it bc of how universally bad it was received. They weren’t being “punched in the head” by WWE’s comments, they got played by the jerks from Connecticut when they really didn’t have to. The Scapegoat reference last week WAS in response to Punk (no mention of Jack Perry for months but they magically decided to mention him on screen the same week as Punk’s shoot? Sure thing, Luke.) Also Ospreay’s promo was cringe and he didn’t even stick the landing.

Okay, you can fact-check me, but the shots WWE took at AEW over the weekend were on interviews pre - or post show and podcasts, NOT the main shows/events. The Bucks and TK dedicated TV time to retaliate. That's a problem. Secondly, everyone saying punk is the aggressor. Yeah, he pushed Perry, but after months of being frustrated. Was he right for doing that? Nope. But if TK actually was a boss, this never would've happened. And all the footage does is prove punk's story is accurate. He didn't lie. Moreover, if this event was so important to the narrative, why only put it AFTER Punk's interview and with no audio? They shot themselves in the foot and are paying the price for it.

I think it’s important to clarify the ‘Stephanie McMahon was named in the lawsuit’ thing - she was mentioned in it but not in any negative way or with any accusation of wrongdoing. Just that she knew who the accused was and invited her into a meeting. Just because she’s mentioned in it doesn’t mean WWE are ‘getting away with showing her on tv because they’re a hot product’. Unless new information comes to light, Stephanie shouldn’t be blacklisted because she shares the same last name as her awful dad.

Luke says at one point punk controlled the narrative. Let’s be clear, he said nothing publicly about the fight until the interview where he was asked about it. Tony K and those journalists friendly to him controlled the narrative before it. Was Punk wrong to push and choke Perry? Yes he was! But the sole blame for letting the situation escalate to the point where their unequivocal top star of the company felt he had to stand up for himself in that manner, is on Tony Khan. Punk said in the interview he asked Khan to deal with Perry and his attitude towards Punk and other backstage personnel including Tony Schiavonne. And Khan did nothing because, like Punk also said in the interview, Tony wants to be their friend and doesn’t know how to be a boss and apparently cannot handle conflicts of that nature in the work environment.

Well AEW had a few matches on the show and this segment on All In incident than anything else which made this podcast extended due to fact that it needs to be talked about why it happened and it didn't work for what AEW wanted. I think that if we can this that if you take away all of the show segments it would feel like an hour and ten minutes without including the segments then it might have been a okay show. If we only took away the Jericho and hook match out of it and only put maybe Toni storm bit and somehow made Mariah May matches feel like a better match on that show then it could have been 80% rating show. I think wrestletalk doing a two podcast is telling on why AEW is aiming at all the wrong angle with talking about what happened last year incident.

The context in which the video was played is my main issue with it: 8 months ago if TK was like “hey guys, I know ur all mad at me for firing Punk but if you watch this clip of the attack, you’ll see where I’m coming from” But he would rather play the tape which made him “fear for his life” in context of Punk basically saying exactly what happened in the video makes AEW come off as a petty/childish company and I dont want that for the talent or company

A big problem is that the footage really show anything we didn’t already know. It happened pretty much the same way that reports said it did 8 months ago It showed that the interview Punk gave was pretty accurate That’s pretty much how I imagined it went down if anything it’s not quite as bad as I assumed the way people spoke Punk actually choked Perry out (which I assumed was exaggerated) it wasn’t really a Brawl it was barely a scuffle I think most people have seen much worse fights in their real lives. And if Punk responds to about how he was the one to get physical and Jack Perry didn’t do anything all he will say is there was no audio so we don’t know what Perry said to him.

So, speaking as someone with no loyalty to either WWE or AEW (largely because the notion of being loyal to one specific wrestling company is, well, just silly), having now seen this footage, the premise that this incident made Tony Khan fear for his life really does seem ridiculous. Yes, everyone's lived experience is different and there is a chance that he really did feel that way, but if that's the case, I have to think it's due to a profound lack of life experience. In the same way that a child losing their favorite toy is, to them, the worst possible thing that could happen or a bee sting makes them afraid their going to die, this genuinely minor scuffle that barely involved him made Tony Khan, the head of a billion dollar company, "fear for his life". And that's the best-case scenario...

I do think it will be mostly finished now, hopefully. I always thought it was weird that WWE always ignored other promotions (like fully pretended they didn't exist) but I wouldn't mind going back to that for a little while because in reality there being more big wrestling companies is great because it pushes both to make the best possible product and there should not really be anything preventing people from being a fan of both.

I personally think aew has the star power and the backstage help ie legends and great minds in wrestling. However they fall into the trap of competing with wwe. They just need to focus wholly on the storyline and characters in the own company. The woman’s division is stacked but title changes all the time with no real build.

I think TK is like Vince he should not be booking AEW he should be running the business side of AEW.They should do like WWE where Triple h is booking the creative and Nick Khan running WWE business.IMO Bryan Danielson should be on head creative because he has experience on booking SD and TK run the bussiness.

Punk didn't say that Perry was the aggressor. He just said he was in his personal space, and if someone gets too close, what are you gonna do? That seemed like a pretty neat way of saying yes I started it. Without actually saying yes I started it.

I just saw the show and saw a fan made clip of the whole story on Instagram, where the Tony Khan statement with the "fear for my life" was included also. And Oli and Luke are right here with all they say. This footage did firstly not warrant such a statement live on TV and with the demeanor Tony said it in. And THEN you also have the Bucks in the promo say "the footage only shows a highschool scrap" and "it wasn't even the biggest thing" - so even if that is keyfabe here it adds to how it puts a bad look on AEW and how they treat this and that it is petty for the reason of being petty and can't really stand its ground.

Luke, Punk never said perry was an aggressor, He just said Perry was talking shit and perry said "got a problem do somthing about it" but guessing with a few expletives shoved in there.

13:30: See, to me, I don't see this as "this is something the Young Bucks did. The Young Bucks are AEW, so in turn the owners of AEW did this. Doesn't matter if they try to spin it into a skit, the fact is the actual footage has been shown, and that was a choice of the owners of AEW and it makes them look petty. Give people credit and don't assume they're completely stupid and blind to what is happening here. I know several people that watch AEW and don't know ANYTHING about terms like "kayfabe and Shoot" yet even THEY could see this was a petty move by AEW that makes them look immature and like they're lashing out because they lost Punk and they want to make him look bad because he's having success elsewhere.

I’m trying to understand Luke’s stance even if he’s playing Devil’s avocado. Kayfabe or not, the Young Bucks are EVPs they are CORPORATE OFFICERS of AEW which means any action they do represents the company. If the EVPs are heels then AEW is the heel. FTR are saying they are part of AEW but they are just employees of the company. So showing the video only damages AEW as whole regardless of opposition from other wrestlers who are not EVPs.

I think the reason the entire angle doesn't work is because for the average AEW kayfabe and reality are the same thing. We, the fans, know the real reason they are doing this, but they are trying to convince us otherwise in such a convoluted way that it's unbelievable.

Any part of the product on screen should be in benefit of the on screen product, keep the references to the outside off your own television Both sides are behaving in a petty way and should be more adult about a PROFESSIONAL Entertainment Product It's called PROFESSIONAL Wrestling, so act like Professionals, regardless of home promotion, pettiness just diminishes the actual Wrestling product that you want to put over as a producer

They didn’t “send him” to New Japan. He asked to be allowed to go because TK would not allow him back on TV yet. There is still legitimate friction between Perry and TK. There were like three Fightful Select reports about it. Not sure how you guys missed it. As far as the video goes, I completely agree… Punk could’ve lit TK on fire and there would still be a loud contingent saying, “There was a fire extinguisher right there!” Poor Chris Hero. That was his Kassius Ohno face.

It was nearly as bad as people are trying to make it out to be with the “This will be the death of the company” takes, but if definitely wasn’t a good look. Punk was like 80-90% accurate with the only thing off being when he said he couldn’t let Jake it too close, implying Jake was aggressively getting close to him. When in actuality Jake didn’t step towards him at all and was fixing his hair when Punk hit him (which he left out) and then choked him. It just wasn’t worth it to prove him wrong and essentially a technicality

After talking certain libations and squinting to see my screen I am making a very bold prediction. Jack Perry will either become a very big figure in pro wrestling (spoilers he already is) and even if won't succeed there will be an attempt to turn him into a megastar status, a True Pillar of AEW Tony Khan's goofy self and his public persona became more and more intentional a. K. A. character work. He will, at some point make an incredibly transformative move in the company and become an important on screen character. It will be his life work, his ultimate childhood dream, to enter his dreamatorium as it's acting, deeply flawed and character driven king persona. Not proofreading that beyatch, CHIoa

People clutching their pearls over the Punk/Perry altercation is ridiculous. Fights happen all the time in sports and on set at TVs and Movies. Wrestling is closer to those than it is your typical 9-5. All In London took place mere DAYS after Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt passed away, so ex-WWE guys and veterans were more emotional at that time.
