Summer pruning is a critical time if you are trying to maintain your fruit trees at a manageable size. While Winter Pruning is great for detail pruning (crossing branches, deformed wood, etc), Summer Pruning is ideal for maintaining both the height of the fruit tree, and to induce the growth of more fruiting wood. In many fruit trees, it's this newly grown fruiting wood that your fruit grows on NEXT year.
This video 1 of 2 shows summer pruning examples on my "Santa Rosa" Plum, "Flavor Grenade" and "Emerald Drop" Pluots, "Sweet Treat" and "Candy Heart" Pluerry, "Cot-N-Candy" Aprium, and "Bella Gold" Peacotum.
To safely prune any tree or plant, you want to make clean pruning cuts, and for that you need a quality set of pruning shears or loppers. The Corona shears and loppers I used in this video represent a good value, and can be found here: (Shears) amzn.to/2F4j7ao , (Loppers) amzn.to/3bx0Grc
