Some more places that are a must see in my opinion; - HIP 38064: a system of binary ringed planets in very close orbit to an O-class star. One of the planets is landable so there's opportunity to look into a spectacular sunset with a ringed planet in front of the star. - The Spirograph nebula: a bright green planetary nebula with lagrange clouds in the system, including one inside an astroid ring. - The Crab nebula: a uniquely coloured nebula that contains a system that has an astroid station. - DRYAU AUSMS KG-Y E3390: an incredible star system with a gas giant in EXTREME close orbit to a white dwarf that has landable binary moons also in extreme close orbit to eachother, making for some of the most spectacular views I have seen in ED so far. - The Veil West nebula: there are no systems inside of it but you can get very close to it. A unique and beautifully bright blue coloured nebula. - The Bubble nebula: again no systems inside, you can only get close to it. A perfectly bubble shaped nebula with a bright pink/purple colour that looks like no other nebula.

If anyone ever mentions "places to go in Elite" I immediately start talking about Spoihaae XE-X d2-9 A 1, the landable HMC that dives straight through the jet cone and exclusion zone of a white dwarf. Mitterand Hollow is neat but have you ever seen a gravitational lens rise over the horizon and swallow the sky?

@@Exigeous I spent a few orbits on the surface when I visited so I can say the real trick to that planet is that it isn't tidally locked, so you have to plan ahead to be in the right spot to have the star go over you at its closest approach.

My favorite system that I've found is Croomoi AA-A H82. It consists of a Wolf Rayet star right next to an O-type, and further away a B-type supergiant. The B-type is by far the largest, 2,000ls in diameter, but is actually the least massive, at around 45 solar masses. The Wolf Rayet star is six times the larger than the sun, and has an astounding mass of 120 solar masses. It's dwarfed by the O-type, which is around 225 solar radii. And yet, being only 50 solar masses, it practically orbits the Wolf Rayet. It makes you realize just how much the density of stars varies. The best part, though? On the system map, the three stars are stacked smallest to largest, making an adorable stellar snowman. It is, however, pretty far from Sol. It's around 3,000ly from Sag A*. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area, though.

Mic Turner's Base only qualifies as *Planetary Outpost* and as such is smaller then the ringed *Planetary Ports* . For the Station interiors where you want to see the Palm Trees and overall clean looks you need to check the Galaxy for places that sport the *Service* economy. A special one to visit is *Greeboski's Outpost* in the Phiagre System. It was changed, Exterior and Interior, several years ago through winning a CG. The Station itself is a *Industrial* economy but sports Service interior, and two external Habitat rings that weren't originally there. Phiagre is one of the few Systems in Elite that can be changed manually by FD.

This is such an amazing game. I am surprised it is not far more popular and well known. Considering it came out in 2014 and even before then I was always looking for great space based games I didn't even find out it existed until 2020. It is quite a lot to learn at first but tbh it felt extremely accurate in terms of being a fresh pilot heading out into space in your first ship. It took a lot of control tweaks before I stopped spinning out of control. But thanks to the mouse re-centering it made flight a lot easier.

Cool, thanks! I'd like to see a list of best places to go to meet the 5000 LY requirement to open that one engineer. It's early game, so 5000 LY is a huge distance to go, and picking a good destination would be really nice when heading out on such a long trip at this point in the game.
@Exigeous4 жыл бұрын
Sure, honestly for that I'd say if you want it done fast head toward Witch head or California nebula, take in the view and then just keep going - when you hit 5,000 self destruct and POW back in the bubble. You don't have to sell the data, just to have gone that far so you can cut the trip in half by not flying back.
@ScottSlooper4 жыл бұрын
@@Exigeous I actually got a Tourist Mission that will pay me to do this to a Nebula 8500 LY away. So it's a Three-fer: Open the engineer, exploration data, and mission. I already started, and I learned how to do Neutron Star Supercharged Jumps. This game is so cool. Endless learning. And thank you for all your great instruction!
@ScottSlooper4 жыл бұрын
Well... That mission ended in self destruct. I used the Neutron Star tool to find a path to the "Glorious Nebula" in Hen 2-23. I've never used it before, but let me tell you to use this tool with a lot of caution, because it sent me on a path that could not be completed in my ship. The beginning 5000-5500 LYs went fine. At the beginning of the path you could see that at most there were 3 legs in a row of the trip directly from Neutron Star to Neutron Star. Legs of the trip with more than 1 jump mean there are Scoopable Stars on the path to refuel. But the last 3000 LY or so of the trip, the ratio of Neutron Stars to Scoopable Stars increased dramatically, and Scoopable Stars eventually became very far apart. I wasn't going to just quit because I thought there must be a way through if it sent me that way, knowing my Jump Range, but about 10-15 jumps from Hen 2-23, in a final long series of about 20 direct Neutron Star to Neutron Star jumps, I had to detour to the nearest Scoopable Star for Fuel, and then I was stranded. I had already recovered from a similar situation on the previous four-direct- Neutron Star jump series, by looping back to the last Neutron Star using 15 regular jumps. But not this time. The closest star of any kind that I could jump to was 83 LY, and my Orca has a 55 LY jump range. I looked forward in the trip, and this was not a singular isolated star. They just became very far apart in this area of space. I was totally stranded. Self Destruct. So if you use the Neutron Star tool to make a jump path, and you see a series of individual jumps between Neutron Stars that is more than 3 or 4 in a row, be very careful about that trip. Make sure you can get off the Neutron Star jump path and continue the trip with regular jumps without either running out of Fuel or becoming stranded. Not even the Fuel Rats can save you out there because you are Jump Range stranded, not Fuel stranded. The only thing that could have saved me there was a Carrier, and I didn't have the heart to ask one of my buddies to spend 2 hours RL to fuel up and come get me and take me back.
@TheLampMan-JaE4 жыл бұрын
If you don't want to go all the way out to the Green Nebula, you can head towards the Spirograph Nebula between the witch head and Barnard's loop. It's not quite the same, being a different color for the most part and an O class star rather than a black hole, but it's still awesome!
