Nice work, Chris. I love watching you build guitars because there's so much good information in your videos. Keep up the good work.

It's looking really good Chris. I do like the changes you make to the headstock. It looks like it would be more comfortable on the hand as well.

Thanks! I am glad I decided to just go ahead and fix it instead of living with it.

I think the idea of not doing all the fretwork first is so when you do it after you take all the clear off the frets at the same time. I coated the copper tele neck and oak board with the poly x, still looking good. I've seen other people put finish on a maple board before fretting but no idea how they don't make a mess of the finish lol

I thought about that later on after making that comment about finishing the neck before fretting. I’m not sure I could pull off keeping the finish undamaged, lol.

You can use paste wax on the fretboard to help keep the CA glue from being a problem on the fretboard.

Great progress Chris. I have a 1976 tele' with a butt-crack. You'd think Fender would have sorted it by now, but I guess that not enough complaints were made so the kept on doing it!?

I guess it‘s too much a part of their history they probably just decided that it is what it is, lol. Thanks for the comment!

I have the StewMac fret cutters. They are great but I nicked a couple of frets using them. It took me a while to figure out what was happening. I thought I had damaged the fret wire while it was stored in my tool box. So I checked it out really well and didn’t find any issues. I started checking the fret wire before I cut it. So I knew it wasn’t nicked. Then I was getting ready to put one of them in and saw a nick on it. So I knew it was getting damaged by the cutter. Now I’m really careful when I cut it and I don’t have any more nicks.

Nice tip. Thanks! I will have to watch out for that and pay more attention. Lots to learn!

I make my own templates out of a 1964 tele body and the pick Guard template for that body so I am sure they match.

I will likely be making my own on the next one to avoid issues like I had. Thanks for the comment!

When leveling the frets put a block to hold the head of the neck because it springs and you can’t go straight

After your comment, I watched the video and saw the neck flexing while I was leveling. Good call! I didn‘t realize I was doing that. But now I know for the future. Thanks!
