What many don't understand is that any patient can benefit from positioning like this. Sometimes just laying in a bed can cause pain. We're made to be up and walking around - not laying in bed for long lengths of time. The pillows take pressure off of major pain point areas.

@janeehoward Our instructor never even mentioned needing to do that, glad I got online to check this stuff before going in for my exam.

i think matt leinart is in a 'side line' position as well! i think most CNA teachers need more people skills

That should be side-lying position, not "side line" position.

@urborg74 The first time I worked in patient care, it wasn't a requirement for employees to be licensed, so I didn't know this part of patient care. The last five years of patient care I did, I was required to be licensed and we were taught to position a patient. Because, I, myself had been in the hospital and experienced uncontrollable pain, I had a special appreciation for what pillows can do to help resolve pain. Pillows do a better job then pills or pain meds sometimes.

@janeehoward Haha - that's no problem! I was failed for something too -- and my instructor was the same way; cold, unapproachable, and cruel. I'm glad the videos aren't judgmental. :D
