For those unfamiliar with the White Australia Policy, the method they used to deny people of non European background was to give them a dictation test. Coming to an English speaking country you would assume the test would be given in English. Wrong assumption. It could be given in any European language. There was a case of a polygot who spoke 11 languages. They gave him the test on Gaelic to make sure he would fail.

There was an asian girl in our youth club in Bath I knew back in the early 1960's . I had thought that probably her father was white and mother form Asia perhaps Hong Kong but it could have been the other way around . Bristol wasonly 12 miles away and that was a busy port before and during the war .

I don't believe she had a choice. I remember hearing about her story prior to this watching this video. Because the children were not her current husband's children she was not allowed to take them with her by the government. Her Australian citizenship was also stripped from her.

What you say makes sense, especially when we know that in the other case of the documentary, citizenship was stripped from the women who married and they were classed as aliens. I highly doubt that the Australian government would let an “alien” leave the country with Australian children, especially if those children were white.
