Yep, I come from third world country but Bangkok is considered developed and modern for several reasons: 1. **Infrastructure**: Bangkok has a rapidly expanding public transportation system, including the BTS Skytrain, MRT subway, and Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The city also has extensive road networks and ongoing construction of new expressways. 2. **Technology and Innovation**: Bangkok is a tech and startup hub in Thailand, with continuous advancements in digital technology, such as 5G, Smart City initiatives, and the development of cutting-edge software and applications. 3. **Economy and Business**: Bangkok is an economic powerhouse with fast-growing industries, foreign investments, and the presence of many multinational corporations. It serves as a key financial center in Southeast Asia. 4. **Lifestyle and Entertainment**: The city boasts world-class shopping malls like ICONSIAM, Siam Paragon, and EmQuartier, luxurious hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife, making it a global destination for entertainment. 5. **Education and Healthcare**: Bangkok is home to renowned universities and hospitals, offering advanced medical technology and education to enhance the quality of life for its residents. Thus, Bangkok is not only a city rich in cultural heritage but also a modern metropolis leading in various areas of development in the region.

I moved to Thailand from America around the same time as Paul. I’ve done a few trips here before I settled on Thailand. The cost of living in Bangkok is a bit higher than the rest of Thailand but very doable. Especially if you have income from abroad. My advice is if you get the chance to live outside the US, even for a bit, take it and see what else is out there. Bring that new perspective home.

If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. Thanks for talking about what keeps you afloat while living in Thailand. I come around too many videos explaining the spending. We all know it is cheap compared to living in the states but not many talk about what is sustaining that life. Mentioning your past income is a good example to get ideas on what someone can do to live a similar life. Much appreciated.

This is the type of thing I support. Going where things work for you. This guy found the place that works for him, and many people in the comments echo his sentiment. I'm happy for them. I also love that everyone is different, and I can live in the north central US, where COL is low, the landscape is subtly pretty, and car infrastructure is widespread (I enjoy driving). I'm someone who appreciates geographic diversity, and the northern plains is perfect for me, specifically on America's population divide, where I can go east towards the many large cities of the upper midwest, but also west, and be in the mountains in less than 5 hours. I love snow and the cold, and could never live in the south. This is far from everyone's perfect reality, some want large cities with more job opportunities, while others want small towns where they know everyone and have a higher degree of privacy and control over who they interact with. Also, some people never want to deal with snow, while some think it's the only thing that makes winter fun. I think the ability to move somewhere that you like is one of the most straightforward ways to deal with many problems, and I think a lot of people know what they want, but they know less on where they can find that stuff. Keep traveling people, you might find your favorite place, even if you think you already found it.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to pay off our mortgage early. We were both still working, and took the payment amount that we had been using to pay off our mortgage faster and we put it straight into investments. We were able to retire early because of almost 7 years of putting away what would have been our mortgage payment as well as maxing out our 401K/403B plans. Thankfully we were taught by both of our parents the value of living within our means. Thank you for your advice. I know it will help people. we are interested in investments that could set me up for retirement , I mean I've heard of people that netted hundreds of thousands during these crash, I listened to someone on a podcast who earned over $650K in less than a year, what's the strategy behind such returns?

Even with the right strategies and appropriate assets, investment returns can differ among investors. Recognizing the vital role of experience in investment success is crucial. Strategically withdrawing profits just before the market correction, I'm now seizing buying opportunities once again.

Aside from the year-round heat and horrible traffic, Thailand is a great Asian city with lost of places to go and amazing food. You'll never be bored in Thailand. And of course, it's way more affordable than the states. Maybe when I get closer to retirement, I might follow Paul's path and maybe consider living there part-time. I guess the point is he was relatively rich in both NYC earning $400k and in Bangkok earning $150k, but he still prefers Bangkok. The point is not really living a simple life, but rather that Bangkok itself is more magical for people who grew up in the West. It's just a more fun experience to be thrown into something completely new. So he enjoys his lifestyle in Bangkok more than the US. He's not the only one, Bangkok is the most visited city on earth for a reason. It's just more lively and more fun. Western society is much more rigid and conservative in comparison. For example you're not going to see street stalls everywhere, people drinking on the streets, partying everywhere, water fights across the entire city etc. Bangkok (and most big Asian cities in general) is just way more chaotic and wilder than any Western city.
