In this video, I walk through my wasteboard - and why I chose what I chose. I setup a file to cut some new clamps and show you those as well

The nylon bolts are a fantastic idea. I ordered a couple of 8'= ¼-20 nylon threaded rods from McMaster-Carr about three years ago. I've been using it with diy wooden knobs and probably have 12 of the 16 feet leftover. The bolts are probably a better idea.

I love the look of those wooden knobs. I didn’t even know they made 8 footers of nylon threaded rods. That’s awesome.

With the dovetails? It looks like it could definitely work. I want to install a dedicated 90 degree stop fence on mine so I can just press my material up against that.

I haven't looked up the nylon bolts, but I think they would 3d print well if the oriention is good. I'd also suggest dog holes for locater pins. I wonder instead of t track if I could use a dovetail bit and just use 3d printed block rather than a head to help the MDF strength. Great video thankyou 😁 you have given me much to think about lol

I haven't done anything to my spoil board im gonna try and make dog holes and use 3/4 pvc. Or just do a L square to keep project alin for like multiple inlays and epoxys to help keep the z zero....... Im still a beginner...... Keep it up brother

I like that idea - I’ve seen that too. The pvc acts as a fence of sorts. Let me know how it work outs!

Any tips on getting your t-track square and parallel to the CNC frame and each other?
@SJSSawdust
@SJSSawdust 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Use the machine to do it for you. What I did was run a path around the outter most perimeter of my machine ( 32-1/4” x 32-1/4” I believe). Then you can either measure in , at 2 different points, from one line, connect your marks or once you figure out where you want your track, draw a line in your cad/cam program and use the smallest bit you have to draw the line for you. Then you will know exactly square and parallel from on side

Haven't set up my waste board yet, still trying to get Journeyman X-50 set up, then trying to decide on a dust collection system, any suggestions? Thanks for the file and the very informative video.

I have the stock dust boot. I would love the “pwn” dust boot because it comes out behind the router and that would make more sense because I have my dust collection hose in the back right corner. I just use an old shop vac with a dust deputy (cyclone separator) and it works very well!

i just brought the file off of esty. i ran one set and the problum that i having is the middle cut out is to large for the washers i got from the list. what size of end mill or u using .i used 1/4 em . love the file.
@SJSSawdust
@SJSSawdust 3 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching! As far as the file goes, the middle “slot” should be 1/4” or just larger to accommodate the 1/4” nylon bolts. The washers should be 1/2” OD. I just clicked all the links and they all seem to be working well.

@SJSSawdust
@SJSSawdust 3 ай бұрын
@@josephlanglois8073 if I had to guess, I’d say that you set that slot to cut “outside” instead of “on” so instead of just doing basically one line, you doubled the width of the slot

...why not use nylon bolts in the threaded inserts ?
@SJSSawdust
@SJSSawdust Жыл бұрын
There’s 2 reasons - 1) I didn’t want to have to use a tool to tighten the clamps, the wing nut can be secured simply using your hands. Now, I suppose you could find a bolt head that IS a wing nut, eliminating the use of a tool but the it would have to be cut to the perfect length so you could use it with different material thicknesses and screw it into your threaded inserts. 2) I can leave the clamps on the t track and when I set in my new project material, just slide them around to make them fit - I don’t need to remove them each time after use
