This was an excellent explanation! Thank you very much for sharing. I’ve been lathe programming for 6 plus years and while I haven’t used this type of G76 threading cycle in the past , recently had to learn how as I have changed place of employment and they have YCM lathes . I struggled on an M20x.5 external thread for a few hours yesterday and never solved the issue. I realize now I made a few boo boos in writing my code. I consulted almighty google and the machine manual but you Sir by far have seemed to help me understand this much better now! Nice job 👏👏👏Thank you for this simple breakdown

Hi Tom S., it's very interesting to view your shot video on " how to convert between Metric - UNC threads"; my name is Tuan Nguyen and I'm working in a small machine shop in Hamilton, recently we're running into a problem that we really don't know how to solve it properly. I hope you know the CNC lathe Okuma Spaceturn with 2 chucks.; the product that caused us some difficulties to produce now is 20NS-#12MORB which has 2 finished ends; 1 end done with M30x2 thread and the other end to be done with 1-1/16 - 12 UN . Because the system is in "1mm" mode which allows us to handle the union in a metric way so when the 2nd end suppose to be done with 1-1/16-12 UN (imperial), it can't be done within the "1mm mode" unless we have to convert it to an equivalent Metric thread. So, if you receive this comment please spare few minutes of your valueable time to help us how to find the equivalent of the : 1-1/16-12 UN in the Metric system. Thank you very much and have a good day. Tuan

Thank you sir ,how do I got the number of Minimum depth off cut each pass and depth of cut for last pass ,in some program both of two number is the same 0050 and I see some video say is not good , I confused with both of that value ,usually I just guess, Thank you for your video.

Very helpful video I am just wondering how can I calculate the P 373, and the minor diameter X.3979. and thanks for share your knowledge.
+Tom Stikkelman hi, I can quite easily do parallel threads , Imperial and metric, the machines I use require you position the tool 6mm above the threads major diameter, but what about taper threading? the book I refer to is very vague about, maybe you can do a video? thanks

Is there any advantage to tapping in a lathe with G32 instead of G84?

tapping on cnc lathe is possible?
@jasona88776 жыл бұрын
I usually tap in a CNC by hand using a spring loaded center, much safer. But, In theory you could program it to do so but you would need to designate three separate tool stations for your taps, and you probably need to modify the major diameter so that your taps take less stress (If using 4140 or similar steel alloy), also you would need a good way to get tapping fluid on those taps, not to mention flushing out the tapped hole between taps.

Hello.#4-40unc How do you calculate that? thanks a lot.

5:34 where you got those numbers theyway off.when there is easier way 1.75*0.65= 1.138 thread depth 12-(2*1.138) = 9.724 minor dia g76 P010060 q100 r0.05 G76 x9.724 z-15 p1138 q250 f1.75 just to observe your sizes .3978=10.107mm. i cutting it 9.724mm=.3828 depth i use is 1.138mm=.0448 you have 0.0373=0.974mm (this is actually metric x1.5 depth?) 1.5*0.65=0.974. whats wrong you have to offsett tool -0.383mm=.015 to get tolerance. AM i right? well now you know where problem no need datasheet everything works. thread will cut inside tolerances if tool is correctly measured. it so MAGIC but why inch threads not work so good LOL.desing flaw i have to under cut thread too much. thread depth on datasheets not correct inches suck. metric is more acuritely measuring anyway lol mayby thats why

@weaponstester89764 жыл бұрын
It's called unc treads and its treads per inch nothing to do with metric
@jarisipilainen38755 жыл бұрын
1:33 dont use conversion let machine do it use G20 and G21.i dont use conversion when doing inch threads. i just calculate 25.4mm/tpi. its not conversion its how it is lol so in your case you could just 1.75/25.4mm 25.4 is more acurate than conversion number 25.4 is exactly LOL
@yahye6747 жыл бұрын
I am guessing you didn't code it with the metric G20 or G21 I forget which one it is. that way you wouldn't have to convert.

Sir how to calculated thred dept .to all threding . please sir example thred dept formula.
This video will make u break your tread tool the only thing to fix that Is to replace the second g76 lines x value to the part diameter and the second it first g00 line replace the x value with a whole number not a decimal I pick 18 then it worked
@weaponstester89764 жыл бұрын
I think u forgot your working with mm so it dont really need decimal if u made sense of what I was trying to say
@weaponstester89764 жыл бұрын
Figure it out the g00 x value is the tool distance when its moved out the way of the tread to be moved back to zero position
